‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Star Gemma Chan Stuns In Blue At The 2019 Golden Globes
Looking good, girl! On Jan. 6, Gemma Chan made her appearance at the 2019 Golden Globes wearing a blue Maison Valentino Couture dress, with Forevermark Diamonds, and she looked amazing. Her manicurist, Jolene Brodeur, painted her nails using the Essie fan-favorite color wicked, which complimented her dress nicely. Her hair was styled by Clariss Rubenstein for Olivia Garden, who tied her hair back in a bun.
You may remember a little movie called Crazy Rich Asians that premiered in August 2018 and was super successful — it was the highest-grossing romantic comedy in over a decade. The film is nominated for Best Picture in the comedy or musical category. The British-born actress played Astrid, the cousin to Henry Golding’s character, Nick Young.
Even though the 36-year-old is already a famous actress, the movie still changed her life in ways she didn’t even know were possible and brought awareness to Asian actors. “The response to the film has been above and beyond what we could have imagined and it means the world when people express how much the film means to them,” she confessed to The Hollywood Reporter. “The writer David Henry Hwang said something poignant about representation: when it’s been absent most of your life, sometimes you have to see it to realize just how much you needed it. For me personally, it feels like the door is finally open to telling the stories of people who traditionally have been ignored or underrepresented or forgotten by history. We aren’t going back.”
Earlier today, the brunette beauty took to Instagram to share with fans her Golden Globe invitation, which was originally posted by Jon M. Chu, who directed the movie. She captioned the snap, “#crazyrichasians #goldenglobes #goldenglobes2019.”
“I can’t believe this is happening tomorrow,” Jon wrote. “What an unbelievable ride. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and kept the conversation going. Cannot wait for our cast to represent on that red carpet tomorrow for all of us. #CrazyRichAsians.”
The cast is gearing up to shoot the sequel and we can’t wait to see more of Gemma’s looks!
