As the new year sets in, so does award show season. Kicking off first in 2019 is the 76th annual Golden Globe awards happening this Sunday, Jan. 6, at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT.
The three-hour ceremony will air live on NBC coast to coast. Killing Eve’s Sandra Oh and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Andy Samberg will be hosting the show in Beverly Hills, CA, which shines a light on the very best in film and television. If you’re a fan of the big and small screen, you won’t want to miss this.
Some of the most talked about films of the last year are being nominated for best motion picture such as Bohemian Rhapsody, A Star Is Born, BlacKkklansman, Black Panther, If Beale Street Could Talk, Crazy Rich Asians, Vice, The Favourite, Green Book, and Mary Poppins Returns. While some of your fave stars are being recognized for their amazing performances, such as the following: Lady Gaga received a nod for best performance by an actress in a motion picture in the drama category. Bradley Cooper and Rami Malek are both competing against each other for best performance by an actor in a motion picture for drama as well. Lin-Manuel Miranda is nominated for best performance in a musical or comedy category. Regina King received a nod for best performance by an actress in a supporting role. Timothée Chalamet is being nominated for his supporting role in Beautiful Boy.
Other categories include best television series, best screenplay, best original song, best director, and much more. Last year, films like Lady Bird, Coco, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri were granted awards. While stars like Saoirse Ronan, Gary Oldman, Nicole Kidman, and James Franco took major wins that night.
