Recently, George Clooney addressed Meghan Markle’s struggles as a royal and he did not hold back. He even compared the duchess, 37, to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who was often criticized in the spotlight.

“I do want to say, they’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been pursued and vilified,” the actor, 57, told Who magazine. “She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and its history repeating itself.” He does have a point. When Princess Diana was alive, she was often bashed for staying true to herself, and Meghan shares that in common with her.

“We’ve seen how that ends,” George continued. “I can’t tell you how frustrating that is, just seeing them broadcast a letter from a daughter to a father, she’s getting a raw deal there and I think it’s irresponsible and I’m surprised by that.”

The Hollywood star seems to be referring to a letter Meghan wrote to her father, Thomas Markle, in August 2018 that he made public on February 9. In it, the Duchess of Sussex expressed how Thomas has been causing her pain by lying to the media about her. She also said she doesn’t understand his choice to continuously do this.

Meghan has had an estranged relationship with her family for quite some time now. Her father is known to constantly comment about his daughter’s life since marrying Prince Harry, rather than keeping things private. And Samantha Markle doesn’t stay behind. She recently promoted a second tell-all book about her half-sister, which is expected around the time of the royal baby’s arrival. It’s a good thing the duchess has a good support system around her. We hope Meghan remains strong and doesn’t let these issues get the best of her.
