Pop star Demi Lovato is doing whatever she can to recover from the terrifying drug overdose that nearly cost the 26-year-old her life. As reported by Radar Online, the singer entered a rehab facility in Arizona last month to focus on receiving treatment for her mental health. And fortunately, she’s “cooperating and doing what they tell her to do,” according to a source close to her mother, Dianna Hart.

But more than that, the insider claims Demi has “cut out pretty much everyone except for her immediate family and [her ex-boyfriend] Wilmer Valderrama right now.” The 38-year-old, who dated Demi for six years before calling it quits back in 2016, has been the main source of support for the star.

“Wilmer went into a state of shock and was hysterical when he found out about Demi overdosing,” a source told Life & Style exclusively at the time. “He’s been standing vigil every day for hours on end.” Wilmer’s role in Demi’s recovery has naturally brought them closer together. They even “discussed getting back together,” the source told Life & Style, but there’s “one condition: Demi has to be completely clean and sober.”

The “Sober” singer admitted she would seek help when she broke her silence on Sunday, Aug. 5. “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” Demi wrote on Instagram. “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

She continued, “I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. To my fans, I am forever grateful for all of your love and support throughout this past week and beyond. Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time.”

And lastly, “I want to thank my family, my team, and the staff at Cedars-Sinai who have been by my side this entire time. Without them, I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you. I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”

Since news broke of Demi’s hospitalization, fans and fellow celebrities have shown their support for the star by posting on social media. Demi’s ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas took to Twitter to share his love for Demi. “Like all of you I am thinking of @DDLovato right now,” he wrote on the day the news broke. “She needs our prayers and support. We all know how strong you are Demi. #prayfordemi.” Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres was also beside herself and tweeted, “I love @DDLovato so much. It breaks my heart that she is going through this. She is a light in this world, and I am sending my love to her and her family.” Stay strong, Demi.
