Netflix’s ‘The Princess Switch’ Is Literally ‘The Parent Trap’ And We Can Prove It

In The Princess Switch, one of the twins (they aren’t actually twins, but we’re calling them twins, so get over it) is from Chicago, and the other is from a made-up European country (but come on, she’s British).

The same was true in The Parent Trap, when the long-lost British and American twins met for the first time at summer camp.

Of course, you can’t exactly switch lives with someone when you have a different hairstyle, so the “twin” with the longer hair had to get a makeover in both films.

In TPT, that was the British twin, while in TPS it was the American twin.

Earrings play a role

In both movies, earrings have an important role. In TPS, Stacy pretends to lose an earring to distract the prince.

And in TPT, Annie needed to pierce her ears to convince her dad that she was Hallie.

Another important thing to tricking the people in their lives was learning a secret handshake.

Luckily they both nailed it.

In TPS, the first person to know that they’ve swapped is the princess’ attendant, who practically raised her. The whole time she does her damndest to protect their secret.

In TPT, it’s the housekeeper, who is practically Hallie’s mom, who quickly finds out that she’s not the real Hallie.

The big, public reveal

Because how boring would it be to reveal the switch-up at a quiet dinner or over the phone? In TPS they do it at the finale of a baking competition.

And in TPT, they do it at a fancy resort, after their dad fell in a pool while talking to his soon-to-be-in-laws.
