Jennifer Lopez Says She and Ex-Husband Marc Anthony “Repaired” Their Relationship Through Music

Talk about amicable exes! In a new interview, Jennifer Lopez opened up about how working with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, actually “repaired” their relationship. The duo — who split in 2011 — recently worked together on the Spanish-language album Por Primera Vez.
“It actually kind of repaired certain parts of our relationship that had been fractured from our marriage and our divorce and it kind of made us friends again,” J.Lo shared with Spotify’s ¡Viva Latino! podcast on Thursday, Nov. 30. “Because when we first started working together, it’s how we met… we met working. And so we remembered that, like, oh right, we connect on this level of music.” She added, “And that’s what the album came out of.”
Jen and Marc were married from 2004 until 2014 and are parents to nine-year-old twins, Max and Emme. And even though Jennifer has moved on with Alex Rodriguez, she still showed her support to Marc when his mother died in July. She even recorded a version of Marc’s song “Vivir Mi Vida” as a tribute.
“The first thing that came to my mind, because Marc’s mom had just passed away, you know, my kids’ grandma, was ‘Vivir Mi Vida.’ And I thought, ‘I think that’s a good song to sing right now,'” Jennifer shared. “But, in a different way. Not in the kind of up-tempo, rhythmic, salsa way that Marc did it, but in a way where you really hear the words to that song, which is, you know, you have one life and you have to live it.”
And so it turns out, J.Lo’s exes are close too! In late November, Marc and Jen’s recent ex, Casper Smart, posed together for a fun selfie. “If you’ve never seen his show you are really missing out. A Truly captivating performer! Thanks for taking care of my people and I @marcanthony much appreciated! #Miami #AllLove #Respect,” Casper captioned the Instagram pic. Talk about an odd situation!
