Supportive husband of the year award goes to… John Krasinski! The actor and his wife, Emily Blunt, are already considered one of the cutest couples in Hollywood, and they just keep getting better. During a recent interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, John couldn’t help but gush about his wife’s new starring role in Mary Poppins Returns. It turns out, screening the movie was a much different experience than he thought.

He wasn’t prepared for how emotional Emily’s performance would make him. “The first time I saw it, they give you a tissue box in the screening room, and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s very nice. I don’t have a cold,'” he told Ellen DeGeneres. “And they started screening the movie and 25 minutes into the movie, I stood up and went to the back of the room.”

His wife was confused and thought he was simply uninterested in the movie. “Emily said, ‘Do you not like it? I’ve never seen this happen?'” The Jack Ryan actor explained that he simply needed something to dry his tears. “I was pushing through all of the muffins and bagels that were in the back looking for napkins. I was like, ‘I need anything to stop this crying!’ I was crying so much I blew through the tissue box in 20 minutes, had to go to the napkins, and then when I ran out of napkins it was all sweater.”

Set in England in 1935 during the Great Depression, the film focuses on Mary Poppins returning (thus, the name of the movie) into the lives of the now-adult Jane and Michael Banks. Emily stars alongside other huge names, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, and Colin Firth.

John assured Ellen, “It’s honestly one of the most beautiful films. I think it’s exactly what everybody needs at the holidays. It’s pure joy.” Sign us up! Mary Poppins Returns arrives in theaters Dec. 19.
