Kourtney and her baby daddy, Scott Disick, frequently gush about the special place their middle child holds in their heart. “I’m so in love with her,” the reality starlet captioned an adorable selfie of the two in July for Penelope’s birthday.

Scott, 36, and Kourtney may have gone their separate ways romantically but they’re still extremely close friends. They take trips together and spend tons of time as a family with their kids.

“The truth is, my problems shouldn’t affect the kids,” the Talentless designer explained to Us Weekly in June about his solid relationship with his ex.

Scott continued, “Just because their mother and I couldn’t make it as a perfect, romantic couple shouldn’t have anything to do with the kids.” The parents dated on-and-off for over 10 years before calling things off for good in 2017.

Setting Boundaries

“They don’t deserve our mistakes, so we figured out a way. We still need to be as honest and as good to each other as if we were together. Let’s raise these children together and that’s it,” Scott noted.

Figuring It Out

That’s not to say the two didn’t have a few bumps along the way. Scott has been dating Sofia Richie, 20, for the past two years and Kourtney was previously involved in a serious relationship with Younes Bendjima. She split from the 26-year-old model in August 2018 after he was spotted getting handsy with a woman in Mexico.

New People, New Struggles

Those romances took time to get used to. “I think the hardest part was when we both started new relationships,” Kourtney admitted during a sit-down with Scott in a video for Poosh.

A Bit of Tension

Kourtney recalled riffs that they had while discovering these new relationships. “Like, the hardest part because that caused fights between you and I about introducing the kids. I think that caused the most challenges,” she said.

That’s Life

“Yeah, you’re right,” Scott agreed. “It’s one of those things that you don’t think is ever going to happen. But, like everything in the world, you know, things move.”

Outside Recruit

Kourtney even revealed that the two had to seek counseling to work through their issues. “I think that was, like, the time that you and I had our biggest … Like, where I felt like we literally had to go to therapy to talk to even get through to be able to communicate together,” she dished.

Scott chimed in with another difficulty they’ve encountered. “I think the biggest challenge was figuring out how we separate our relationship as friends and parents and still be on the same page. And, what’s appropriate and what’s not. And when to be able to talk to each other,” he divulged.

Scott praised his ex and added, “I think in the beginning you set good [boundaries] and then we learned from that and we’ve gotten to a good place.”
