Ever since Paris Jackson made her social media debut in 2011, she’s experimented with different looks over the years. From punk rock to bohemian hippie, it appears the famous model and daughter to the late Michael Jackson had fun while figuring out how to evolve her style. Most people don’t go through their formative years in the spotlight so their questionable fashion choices haven’t been made public, but even Paris herself has admitted that she’s guilty of embarrassing phases.
When she shared an old pic of herself with choppy dark hair in 2017, she bravely poked fun at herself. “Hey guys remember when I thought I belonged in a Def Leppard cover band,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet. When a fan asked her if it was a phase, she responded, “Would say yes but I’m still very much obsessed with 80s hair bands.” Fans were amused by her honesty. “We all had that cringey phase,” a Twitter user replied. “Your’s [sic] slightly worse than others ?”
While fans would expect the daughter of a pop icon to dress in high-end designer pieces and have expensive taste, Paris revealed that her childhood with the late “Thriller” singer wasn’t as extravagant as most would think.
“My dad was really good about making sure we were cultured, making sure we were educated and not just showing us like the glitz and glam, like hotel hopping, five-star places,” the musician recalled during a March 2021 episode of Naomi Campbell’s YouTube series No Filter With Naomi. “It was also like, we saw everything. We saw third-world countries. We saw every part of the spectrum.”
Paris’ hippie-rocker chick vibe seems to be the style aesthetic that suits her best. The “Let Down” singer revealed she buys her eclectic, one-of-a-kind accessories from Etsy during a 2017 interview with Harper’s Bazaar. She also said she gets her style inspiration from iconic female rock icons Stevie Nicks and Janis Joplin.
“I’m obsessed,” she gushed at the time. “And it’s an unhealthy obsession because there’s never been anyone like them and there never will be. They’re legendary and incredible.”
Even though Paris went through her many phases on a public stage, it seems she’s even more confident in who she is now that she’s become an adult. Keep scrolling below to see Paris’ style evolution!
