We might not be getting new music, but this is going to be even better. Rihanna will be debuting her new Fenty high fashion line with the biggest luxury group on the globe — the illustrious LVMH — and the first look at this groundbreaking collection is set to come in just a few weeks, according to The New York Times.
On Friday, May 8, LVMH Moët Hennessy confirmed that the 31-year-old’s long-awaited high fashion line would become part of their roster, making the multi-hyphenate the first woman ever to create a brand for the luxury conglomerate. The brand will be will be based in Paris and will include ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories. According to a statement from LVMG, Fenty “is centered on Rihanna, developed by her, and takes shape with her vision.”
Rih is now also the first woman of color to head a fashion house with LVMH, with this new addition to the luxury family being the first new LVMH house since Christian LaCroix in 1987. Fenty will join the likes of titans in the fashion industry such as Dior, Givenchy, Celine and Fendi, who all exist within the LVMH bracket.
In short, Rihanna is the queen HBIC and there ain’t no thang anyone can do about it! We’re so proud of this legendary songstress for continuing to dominate with her skill and drive.
“Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real C.E.O. and a terrific leader,” Bernard Arnault, chairman of LVMH, said in the brief. “She naturally finds her full place within LVMH.”
Whisperings of a deal between RiRi (a.k.a. Robyn Rihanna Fenty) and LVMH was originally leaked in January, but this is the first public comment either party has made about the legendary deal. We’ll be waiting on bated breath to see whatever the first products are!
Rihanna never disappoints — except on that whole new album thing but … you win some, you lose some. And this is a huge fashion win.
