If you were (or still are) a die-hard shipper of Jelena, then you’re going to want to take a seat for this one.

Selenators and Beliebers simultaneously lost their minds when it was reported that Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber might have recorded a song during their on-again, off-again relationship. According to Elle, the former couple recorded a duet titled “Can’t Steal Our Love” sometime around 2013 to 2014 aka when Selena was not yet sick of Justin’s same old love. Now, we would never come to this conclusion without doing our fair share of homework — just take a look at the lyrics.

The alleged Selena kicks off the track by singing, “I can’t seem to hide from the lies / I can’t discuss myself / I’ve built these walls so high that I can’t climb myself / And just when I feel I’ve fallen down / You pick me up right off the ground / They can’t keep between us two right now.”

The admittedly tumultuous relationship described in the song does mirror the real-life relationship shared by the stars. Since their breakup both of the stars have commented on their relationship and why it ultimately fell apart.

“I moved in with my girlfriend when I was 18, Justin explained to Complex in 2015. “Started my own life with her. It was a marriage kind of thing. Living with a girl, it was just too much at that age. But we were so in love. Nothing else mattered. We were all about each other. But when it’s like that and you get your value from that, people will always disappoint you.”

Later that year Selena told Refinery 29 that she and Justin found closure: “There’s closure in a very good, healthy way. We’ve seen each other. I’m always encouraging and I am proud of his journey. I think people are making it out to be something that is more tragic than it really was. We grew up together. We both made mistakes. That’s it.”

Even though the exes called it quits in 2014, that hasn’t stopped them from singing about each other since. Selena famously broke down in tears during her performance of “The Heart Wants What it Wants” at the 2014 American Music Awards. While Justin has revealed that many of his songs from his 2015 Purpose album were inspired by Selena.

So, it’s not a leap to suggest that the once lovebirds did record a song while they were dating. And if so, then maybe there’s hope for Jelena afterall.
