Look at her now! Selena Gomez rocked a grey pajama-like jumpsuit and retro white hoop earrings at her album release party for Rare on January 14 at the Puma Store in New York City. She completed the look with a deep burgundy lip and cool Puma RS-X Women’s Reinvent sneakers from the athletic brand. Overall, she was dressed to impress for her first album drop in over four years.

The 27-year-old has talked extensively about the inspiration of her album. Part of the reason it took so long to complete was that new chapters of her life kept unfolding. In the end, she simply wanted to speak her truth.

“I think there came a point in my life where there were so many things being said on my behalf and I found myself protecting people that didn’t really protect me because, you know, I didn’t really want to start anything,” she explained during an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on January 13. “But, I had a right to say my side of the story and I felt like … that was so liberating because it almost felt like I had let it go personally, inside of me, once it was out. And, that’s the greatest gift, I think.”

Of course, many fans think some of her songs — specifically, “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now” — are about her longtime on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber. The exes had a brief reconciliation in Spring 2018 but by July, he was engaged to his now-wife, Hailey Baldwin. The timeline of when Selena wrote the tracks matches up with when things fizzled out with the pop star.

A source dished exclusively to Life & Style that the brunette beauty is feeling good in her own skin. “Selena’s feeling more confident than ever before, and with the help of therapy, [she] has learned not to conform to Hollywood or change herself to fit in,” the insider revealed. “While she loves fashion and getting dressed up, she’s equally as comfortable being seen out wearing no makeup.”

The source added, “Selena’s created a healthy balance in her life. She loves her work, but will also take some time off and treat herself to nice vacations and spa weekends.”
