On Sunday, Hollywood’s hottest A-listers attended the Golden Globes to honor the best of the best in film and television, which begged the question — why was Kendall Jenner there? The model stepped out wearing a black strapless gown by Giambattista Valli — with noticeably plumper lips! — and almost immediately, Twitter erupted with WTFs.

“Unclear what Kendall Jenner is doing at the #goldenglobes but god bless her she looks stunning,” someone wrote. Another added, “Kendall Jenner looks GREAT at the Golden Globes. Also, why is Kendall Jenner at the #GoldenGlobes?” LOL. A third, however, offered a possible explanation as to why she attended the star-studded affair. “Kendall Jenner is at the #GoldenGlobes clearly for her contribution to acting in that Pepsi commercial. Timeless.”

While her other sisters stole the spotlight in 2017 for getting preggo, the 22-year-old sparked controversy for her “tone-deaf” Pepsi ad. At the time, critics accused the drinks giant of appropriating a nationwide protest movement following police shootings of African Americans.

“When I first got this offer, I mean, it is a huge company,” Kendall said on an October episode of Keeping up With the Kardashians. “The people I was following were so iconic and amazing. Michael Jackson has done it, Britney Spears has done it, Beyoncé, Pink—the list goes on. To get something like that, it was so exciting. I trusted everyone. I trusted the teams. After I saw the reaction, and read what people had to say about it, I most definitely saw what went wrong. I was so stuck and I really didn’t know what to do, so I completely shut down.”

Later, the model broke down in tears when she admitted that she feared her career would be over. “I feel really, really bad,” she said. “I feel really bad that anyone was ever offended. I feel really bad that this was taken such a wrong way, and I feel like sh-t. I have no idea how I am going to bounce back from it. I don’t know what to do… I would never purposely hurt someone, ever, and if I knew that this was going to be the outcome then I would have never done something like this, but you don’t know when you are in the moment. I just felt so f–king stupid. The fact that I would hurt or offend other people was not the intent, and that is what got me the most.” Fortunately — or maybe unfortunately for some — I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Kenny!
