After a hectic year, Jenna Dewan has no shame in showing her vulnerable side and there’s strength in that. She candidly talked about what her life has been like these days in a personal interview with Cosmopolitan. The 38-year-old star recently finalized her divorce from ex-husband Channing Tatum, after being married for nearly a decade. And of course, it wasn’t easy going through such a public breakup, but the actress/dancer revealed what the experience was like for her and how she got through it.

The January 2019 Cosmo cover star straight up admitted her best way of coping — simply letting herself feel everything. “People are like, ‘How do you get through this?’ I didn’t run away from my feelings. I let myself cry. I let myself grieve. This is one of those situations where I will see the light. The dawn is coming,” Jenna told Cosmopolitan.

It helps that she isn’t in denial. “I’m obviously super aware that people know me, they know Channing, they know us together,” she told the outlet. “We’d been a beloved couple for a long time. I was in Berlin and people were like, ‘We love your Lip Sync Battle!’ I was like, oh my god. You mean the time when I humped my husband-at-the-time’s face? I’m so glad that’s my calling card.” TBH, we’re glad we have that amazing memory of them forever!

Despite reports and PDA-filled photos with broadway star Steve Kazee, Jenna claims her dog is her “new boyfriend.” Girl, same! “He’s really sweet. He gives me lots of kisses,” she said of her rescued Catahoula-Labrador mix.

On a serious note, the mom-of-one isn’t allowing her spilt from Channing negatively change her outlook on love. “I do believe in love still, but I also believe it begins with really digging deep and learning how to love yourself,” she said. “And then I think you sort of transmute that out to attract the right partner. I think that people who are meant to be sort of find each other.” Preach! We could all learn something from her.
