A new tradition! Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan (née Markle) will be spending the holidays with Doria Ragland. Last year, the Suits star‘s mom stayed at home in Los Angeles while her daughter celebrated the festivities with the royal family. However, they’re looking to do something a bit more low-key since the addition of their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who was born in May. It will be his first Christmas and the parents probably want to start their own personal customs.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month,” a statement from the palace read, as reported by royal correspondent Omid Scobie on Twitter. “Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, [the couple] will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria.”

Their choice has already been greenlit by the members of the royal family, including the matriarch. “This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen,” the royal spokesperson added.

Unfortunately, this is the only info that the palace will reveal about the couple’s whereabouts during the next few months. “For security reasons, the Palace will not be sharing further details on Harry and Meghan’s holiday schedule,” the royal reporter noted.

Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, have been very candid recently about the weight of the spotlight and how it’s been difficult on their lives. “Harry would move heaven and earth for Meghan and he’s going out of his way to cheer her up. I have to admit, the pressure of being a royal and the bad press they’ve endured has put some strain on their marriage but they’re trying to stay strong,” a source exclusively revealed to Life & Style.

They will continue to keep their bond strong because any negativity will affect their sweet son. “Neither Meghan or Harry grew up in a traditionally stable family, and while generally speaking they had a happy childhood, it’s important to them for Archie to see his parents in a loving relationship,” the source added.

A quiet holiday sounds like just what the royals need!
