Prince William And Kate Middleton Will Reportedly Take Over The Queen’s Throne And Prince Charles ‘Is Furious’
The race for the throne is coming to an end! According to In Touch magazine, Queen Elizabeth, whose health is reportedly in decline, has chosen her successors. Plot twist: It’s not her son Prince Charles and his second wife, Camilla.
“She’d rather pass the throne to the new generation of royals, Kate and William,” a royal insider revealed to the publication. “At the end of the day, the queen is a businesswoman who knows that in order for the monarchy to survive, it needs to be modernized with dignity,” they continued.
Naturally, Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are not too pleased with the 92-year-old’s decision. “Charles is furious, mainly because the whole situation hasn’t gone down well with Camilla,” the royal insider explained. “She always hoped to be queen consort. Not happening.”
At one point, it appeared as though Camilla was going to get her happily ever after. In April, the queen announced Charles as her successor. “It is my sincere wish that the Commonwealth will continue to offer stability and continuity for future generations and will decide that one day the Prince of Wales should carry on the important work started by my father in 1949,” she said at Buckingham Palace.
However, after taking into consideration both William and Kate’s popularity and youth — William and Kate are both 36 vs. Charles, 69, and Camilla, 71 — the queen has since changed her mind. That said, the royal insider went on to suggest that Queen Elizabeth’s decision isn’t just a matter of public opinion, but personal, too.
“She was very angry when she found out about Charles and Camilla’s affair, as it brought shame upon the family,” the insider admitted. “She’s forgiven but not forgotten!”
By contrast, Kate and William definitely have the advantage. “[They] have always followed royal rules without complaining about anything,” the insider noted. “They’re also both mature beyond their years, intelligent, and educated and understand what being a royal entails.”
Well, we certainly can’t argue with that! Here’s hoping that Charles and Camilla will let bygones be bygones… eventually.
