Oh, Queen Elizabeth, you truly are one of a kind. According to Daily Star UK, the 92-year-old monarch has very particular (read: bizarre) eating habits. The Queen’s former chef Darren McGrady revealed in his new book, Eating Royal, that the Queen has the quirkiest way of eating bananas. Apparently, she cuts off the top and the bottom, slices the skin away, and chops the fruit up into small pieces. Lastly, the mother-of-four proceeds to eat the banana with a fork.

Why on Earth does she do that, you ask? Well, Darren said that she doesn’t want to be seen chomping away “like a monkey.” Hmmm, interesting! TBH, that sounds like a lot of work just to get some potassium.

Additionally, Darren had a few more fun insights on the Queen’s palette. Believe it or not, she doesn’t like garlic! “We could never serve garlic to the Queen, but Prince Philip loved it,” he explained. “If we were at Balmoral and she was out, we’d slather his steak in garlic,” Darren continued. “But when she was at the table, there was no garlic at all. It was seen as anti-social.”

No shade to her royal majesty, but Philip had the right idea! Garlic, albeit smelly, is delicious. As it stands, the royal family nor Kensington Palace has commented on Darren’s kitchen claims, but we’re still getting a good laugh out of them nonetheless.

We do have one question, though: Have any of the other royals adopted the Queen’s banana hack?! Surely, she’s tried to pass it down to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In fact, we could easily picture three whole generations of monarchs eating bananas with forks.
