Selena Gomez Skips the 2019 Met Gala — Spends Time With Friends in California Instead
It looks like Selena Gomez didn’t attend the 2019 Met Gala on May 6, and though fans were hoping she would make an appearance, the pop star, 26, is busy with other plans. Based on her Insta Stories posted on May 5, she was spending some quality time with friends at Disneyland in California.
Last year, the Disney alum, 26, wore a flowing blush Coach gown paired with her gorgeous locks in a messy but cute updo and a very noticeable spray tan. After the ball was over, Selena took to Instagram to jokingly poke fun at her look, which she wasn’t too pleased about. “Me when I saw my pictures from MET,” she captioned a video of herself running away from the camera at the event.
The “Come and Get It” singer has gone through a lot in the last few months, but bounced back gracefully. She experienced a mental break down last year, which led her to check herself into a rehab facility. Afterward, she was spotted going on hikes and keeping active. She even returned to music and started posting more on social media. Most recently, the actress gave her best friend Theresa Marie Mingus a sweet shout-on Instagram on April 29. “I met Theresa [five] years ago. We worked together and became best friends,” Sels began the lengthy caption of a black-and-white photo of the two ladies.
“She has taught me how to see life in a fun, carefree and uplifting way. She has shown me how to be a strong and fearless woman,” she continued.
“She is beautiful, kind and smart. I saw how capable she was of achieving her dreams. I wanted nothing more than to see her pursue them and soar. And here you are making it happen, T. I love you and I am so proud of you.” Aw!
It seems like Selena is all about keeping good company these days, which is mostly her closest friends. She hasn’t been linked to dating anyone since The Weeknd in 2017. We stan an independent woman!
