At 9 months postpartum, the 45-year-old mama lamented to her Instagram followers about her struggle with weight loss. “9 months postpartum and I’m still hovering at 150. Yes, I can blame it all on breastfeeding and I plan to continue doing so,” she captioned the photo. “But seriously, I have started implementing a little diet. I don’t eat anything after 6 pm. So far I’ve dropped 5 lbs, and my milk supply hasn’t suffered, now if I could just get into the gym … I’ll save that for my next goal.”

May 22, 2018
Fast forward to May, just a month after Jenna had implemented the Keto diet into her routine, and things were going great. “I am officially down 25 lbs today. I resisted dieting for the first year after Batel was born, mainly due to being eternally starving due to breastfeeding. I couldn’t fit into anything but leggings and maxi dresses 😔 I finally had enough,” she wrote. “I started a no white food diet. Which is kinda like a lazy Keto diet. I eat no bread, pasta, potatoes or rice. No refined sugar. I rarely eat out and I make all my meals with fresh ingredients. Well, guys, it worked! My milk supply is healthy and my nursing Batelli is still going strong 14 months!”

June 16, 2018
When she hit a 30-pound loss, she gave us her first inspiring side-by-side post. “This is what 30-pound weight loss looks like. 👀 This took me a little over two months,” the proud blonde wrote. “I cut out bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, all refined sugar, no snacks like chips and crackers. I rarely ate out. I made sure I only put WHOLE foods in my body. What I mean by Whole Foods is, nothing with additives. All fresh organic foods. Meat fish and veggies. I never felt my weight defined me, but my health DID. I felt lethargic, sad when I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize myself. My ankles hurt. I struggled up the stairs carrying Batel. I couldn’t go on like that anymore. I’m here to say you can do it … it’s possible.”

June 26, 2018
A few days later, she brought us into her food world since starting on the Keto diet — and gave a few tips. “Let’s talk about cooking! I attribute a huge amount of my weight loss success to cooking my own meals,” she explained. “I RARELY eat out. If you know exactly what you’re putting in your body, you’re more apt to be mindful of the ‘goodness’ of the ingredients! I challenge you to try! Today I am at 130 lbs. My goal weight is 125.”

July 23, 2018
Though she was still at 130 lbs, Jenna was proud to share that she was starting to see results beyond fat loss. “This has been a strong 💪🏻 week for my Keto lifestyle results. I’m no longer really losing fat, I’m tightening. I see and feel the biggest difference in my arms and back,” she revealed. “When I was out of shape, I felt really thick through my core and trap and arm area. That’s finally starting to go. I really feel weight in our arms is a hormonal thing.”
She even gave a few tips for women struggling to stay on track. “I can say this to all of you ladies wondering how I stay committed to no carbs,” she wrote. “Well, after the first week or so … the cravings subside and your body adjusts. I get sweet cravings here and there, but I usually push past them by drinking a Fresca.”

July 23, 2018
In a second post on the same day, she shared a humbling transformation photo and raved about the benefits of Keto. “I’m now a little under [four] months on the #ketodiet and it’s not only given me physical results, I feel happier, smarter, and much more confident,” she gushed. “I also want to let y’all know how much your amazing support means to me.”

August 3, 2018
She finally shared one of her personal favorite meals in August. “Here is my go-to #keto lunch/dinner. Arugula salad topped with kosher grass fed hamburger patty. Layered with two fried eggs and a side of avocado! So simple and easy,” she revealed. “It’s a quite large meal, but I usually end my #intermittentfasting with this meal! Sometimes I’m only able to get two meals into my non fasting window, so I make sure I get the right amount of fats and proteins!”

August 8, 2018
When she hit her goal weight of 125, she sung the praises of a method called “Intermittent Fasting,” a popular supplement to the Keto diet. “I can now vouch for #intermittentfasting,” she explained. “I haven’t weighed this little for over [four] years. Confession — I couldn’t give up my creamer. I hope I can in the future but right now, mama wants. I’ve been sticking to eating clean Keto, no Keto breads or fatbombs … I think that’s my secret … no shortcuts.”

August 21, 2018
Amid the hectic life of being a mom and trying to lose weight, Jenna got real about her self-care methods. “Finding new ways of ‘self-care.’ Gone are the days of non stop salon trips, spa days and shopping excursions. Now my days are filled with Badanamu on Youtube and picking up flashcards and Tupperware off the floor thousands of times in a row,” she wrote. “Being in recovery forces you to stay accountable and sort through your feelings. THAT to me is self care. I take time everyday to quiet myself and really feel what is going on in me. I wasn’t always able to do this because the demons were too loud. They’ve been gone quite a few years now and it’s allowed me to really find peace. Peace to stay sober and to achieve what I normally thought was impossible. So Batelli’s nap time doubles as meditation time for mama. I hope you’re able to find a few minutes to examine how you feel, it’s freeing.”

August 30, 2018
“Let’s talk about fear,” the dedicated mama got real in a post addressing what brought her to where she was in that moment.
“I think one aspect of fear that we all trip over is fear of failure. This was the major component in my procrastination on getting healthy after having Batel. I kept trying to convince myself I was ok with my ‘new’ size. I wasn’t. It really was fear of failing. I was so afraid I couldn’t reach my goals like I was so accustomed to, I just told myself ‘why bother?’ I conquered sobriety, but that came with a whole set of new issues … actually FEELING my feelings. Raw, painful feelings. I ate. Then suddenly I was on big brother and people all said I ‘got fat,'” she continued.
“Sobriety was more important to me, so I pushed forward and kept on track. We then decided to do IVF for Batelli. The cocktail of hormones pushed me up to 160. Then pregnancy. I hit 205 at 39.5 weeks. My head swam with joy and comfort. I expected the weight to fall off with breastfeeding. That would be a big NO,” she wrote. “I dropped to 187 and stayed there. I ignored it and put every ounce into mothering my sweet girl. Well here we are, folks … Batelli is 17 months and I’m 123. I did it. So to finish up this long ass post, just know it’s normal to fear failing at losing your weight … but if you don’t try, you’ll never know the utter triumph when you do achieve your goals.”

September 2, 2018
“Ugh. I almost chickened out on posting this before image of me,” she wrote in an honest side-by-side post. “This is me at my heaviest, probably around 187 maybe more. More than likely more. I asked my hubby to shoot a elbow up pic for a pro breastfeeding pic for IG. I don’t even know what to say, other than I’m so sorry to my body. Moving on.”

September 9, 2018
“My fellow #keto people and y’all who are on the fence,” she addressed her followers in a post about self-worth. “Let’s talk self doubt and healthy thinking. I think my body has decided this is my ideal weight. 125. My unhealthy mind keeps thinking I need to be 110. I quietly say ‘not today, demon.’ I won’t cave to those voices that tell me I need to be a size 0 to be loved. When I look in the mirror now I see health and happiness, and that alone is my fuel to continue this lifestyle. Do I still pinch my loose belly skin and wish I still had a washboard tummy? Yes. Does Batelli pinch it and laugh? Yes. But that’s when my admiration for this body really hits me. I made 3 miracles. In closing I think it boils down to self love. Say it with me … I LOVE ME.”

“Let’s talk maintenance,” Jenna wrote about maintaining her goal weight. “This is something I know very little about, but like everything I do… I’m trusting my intuition. Since I’m at my goal weight (125) I don’t want to lose more, so I’m upping my calories from my usual #ketodiet . But LISTEN TO ME, I am not saying to myself … ‘It’s OK to eat garbage processed nastiness!’ I am sticking to yummy organic fresh foods. I’m just allowing myself room.”

September 29, 2018
“I think #keto cracks the code to get rid of belly fat. After I turned 40 whenever I gained any weight it went straight to my gut, then I got pregnant at 43, and BAM, I had a permanent tire,” she explained. “When I started the #ketodiet on April 22 of this year, the first fat to go was my waist. Miracles. Straight up organic miracle. I felt no bloating anymore and quite frankly, I feel snatched. 😁 FYI, I eat a lot of organic veggies and fish. My meat consumption has lessened lately. My scale says 123 but I feel strong and energized.”

October 4, 2018
A message to her followers who have a complicated relationship with the scale: “Let’s talk about the dreaded scale. I’ll admit it. I compulsively weigh myself every morning. I wish I didn’t. Oh well. This morning my weight was 4 pounds higher. I silently freaked out in my brain. Shut up demons! I know these are muscle gains!!!! I’ve hit the gym a lot this week and I can feel a difference. I feel strong. It might be in my head because it’s only been a week, but let a girl live. 😆 I think the take away here is that we should all try to step away from the scale and pay attention to how we feel. Pay more attention to how our clothes sit on us and our energy levels.”

October 8, 2018
The side-by-side was dedicated to mamas everywhere. “The funny before pic is me 1 month postpartum. This is the truth and reality of what us women go through after having a baby. Exhausted, in love … and wondering who the hell the person staring back at them in the mirror is,” she wrote. “I remember taking that pic just so I could remember my beautiful amazing body that just birthed a queen. But I also remember thinking, ‘NO ONE WILL EVER SEE THIS PIC.’ 😭 I was wrong. I want other [mommies] to know we are all alike. We all struggle. But we can take control back. Back from society who makes us think we need to [‘snapback’].”

When she announced her total 80-pound loss, she also gave an update on her daily meals. “So many people ask if I count macros or check if I’m in ketosis and the answer is no. I just eat sensibly and intuitively,” she wrote. “Also I get asked about ‘snacks.’ My advice is to stop snacking. Results come from work. It’s hard, but baby it’s SO worth it!”

November 17, 2018
“195 lbs vs. 120 lbs,” she captioned another inspiring side-by-side transformation photo.
“I would just like to make a few statements. When I was heavy, I was shamed by quite a few media organizations. Now that I’ve become well known for #keto … a lot of media has gone out of their way to hire ‘so-called doctors’ to disprove the Keto lifestyle and plant the seed that it isn’t sustainable,” she backed up the plan that has brought her so much progress. “Well here I am folks, 7 months on Keto and LIVING MY BEST LIFE. Here’s the moral of the story, DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU. Don’t let others push their agendas on you. Trust your intuition and GO FOR IT! There is no time like the present to get healthy!”

Jenna couldn’t help but gush about the progress she had started to make in the gym, the next step of the process. “Exercise is starting to pay off. Yes I’ve lost the weight I wanted, but I want to feel toned. At my age it isn’t easy. I’m almost 45,” she revealed. “Honestly, I despise the gym. I feel self conscious and anxious when I’m there. So I told myself I would strengthen myself by hiking with Batel, walking as much as possible and run stairs. It’s working. This progression proves you don’t have to spend hours in a gym … get out, move your body and live life!!!!

November 28, 2018
For a #WisdomWednesday, Jenna brought some weight loss tips to her followers. “Try not to obsess if your weight fluctuates a bit, as women we go up and down depending on the time of the month,” she advised, in addition to, “Let yourself get hungry in between meals. I used to eat before I actually felt hunger pangs … now I listen to my body not just social food cues.”
Plus, this gem: “Last tip, DOCUMENT your progress! Seeing a weight loss progression is my BIGGEST motivator!”

December 3, 2018
In another updated menu post, she dropped a bit more knowledge. “Also remember I am breastfeeding still, so if I feel hungry, I EAT!!!! I find that staying away from Keto breads and snacks help me lose weight. I recommend sticking to whole organic foods and you will see the weight drop off,” she wrote. “Remember my friend, losing weight isn’t easy, it’s a challenge. Push past your fear of failing and make the change!”

December 17, 2018
The list of things that have helped Jenna stay the course would inspire anyone: “I walk to where I need to go. I stop eating when I’m satisfied. Intermittent fasting between 6p.m.-11a.m.. Purged my kitchen of all processed foods. I don’t feed my family processed food. I barely EVER eat out. I accept that slow progress is PROGRESS. I take progress pictures to motivate me. I only shop the perimeter at the market. I consider eating as nourishing not as a reward. I adjust my food according to how my body is reacting. If I am stalled, I eat less calories or cut dairy. Most importantly, I treat myself with love and patience.”

December 19, 2018
This three-way progress shot she put together really gave us the full picture of how far she’s come on this journey. “How cool are these progress shots? I am obsessed with seeing my healthy habits take action,” she gushed. “The first image is when I began my quest at 200 lbs, the second was close to goal weight at 127 and the last is at my happy place 120. As you can see by the third, my skin is starting to tighten a bit, thanks to #intermittentfasting. Once again I can’t stress how important taking progress pictures is! It helps my motivation immensely!”

December 24, 2018
On Christmas Eve, Jenna got real about holiday eating guilt — and we’ve all been there. “The holidays are such a tricky time when it comes to staying on track. With family visiting and having no clue what #keto is and all too willing to try to talk you into mashed potatoes and grandmas cheesecake, it’s SO easy to fall off the #ketodiet,” she wrote. “I suggest meal prepping! It’s not exciting, but trust in fact, you will be so elated when you power through the holidays staying in #ketosis. But let me say this … sometimes allowing yourself to indulge is important. When you feel constantly deprived … it can lead to major week long derailments! So have fun, allow a treat here or there but most of all treasure the time spent with your loved ones!”

December 27, 2018
She sent her followers some New Year’s luck in their weight loss endeavors a few days before the holiday. “I hope this new year brings all of you the fortitude to change your health for the better,” she wrote. “Even if you don’t leap into #keto, try to adopt a ‘whole food’ diet. Because your insides matter, and when you take care of your cells, it translates to your outside AND your outlook! I’ve never felt more bright and present. Who could ask for more! Set goals and believe you can achieve.”

December 31, 2018
New Year’s Eve was full of reflection for the blonde babe. “2018 was a transformative year for me. I awakened health wise, I shed half of me and I celebrated 3 years #sober 👏🏻,” she recalled her strong transformation.” 2019 is going to be even better, I can feel it! My beautiful daughter will be turning 2 and able to express her self better (I’m so excited for her to talk). I also have so many business irons in the fire that I can’t wait to share with y’all. My Poshmark is absolutely my passion (link in bio) and its only growing! Thanks to you guys 🤗 Well, let’s all wave bye to 2018 and welcome in a beautiful new year!”

Check out those abs coming in! Clearly, mama wanted to show off a bit. “Truth. I thought I was still sexy [AF] in my before pic. I was right,” she wrote. “My weight loss was never about pleasing society. Yours shouldn’t be either. It’s about health, it’s about keeping up with our kids, it’s about longevity. So stay sexy out there, but strive for health!”
28 of 39

January 11, 2019
“The before pic shows a tired new mom in absolute love. Sore but elated. Batel was only 2 weeks … and I am still in awe of the fact that my body made a perfect 8 lb baby,” she gushed about her pre-weight loss body. “I honor that beautiful body. Batel is now 21 months and I’m still in awe of this body that continues to nourish her. I hope that all of you [mommies] understand how magical you are!”

February 11, 2019
“Let’s talk plateaus,” she began another informative post chock-full of advice. “I have hit several periods of zero movement on the scale. This is normal! Our body goes through ebb and flows with hormones, water weight, and frankly, having to poop. But what do you do if you don’t see progress for weeks or even months? Well, here’s what I do. First, I cut dairy. Dairy can be problematic for people because they over do it! Cut it and it usually kickstarts weight loss again. Intermittent fasting will definitely help you over a plateau.”

February 20, 2019
Jenna gave us a glimpse of her bod as she got vacation ready — and damn, girl. You were (and are) fire! “Less than a week from vacation. The packing has begun! I’m also cracking down on my #keto to try to get lean and mean because more than likely I’m going to enjoy a few taco platters while in Mexico,” she wrote. “I even have begun quick circuit training while Batelli naps. They consist of pliés, lunges, sit ups, pushups and planks.”
31 of 39

March 7, 2019
While in Mexico for her vacay, she taught us all the importance of angles while photographing her slammin’ bod. “Angles my girlfriends … know your angles,” she wrote. “Trust in fact I don’t look like this walking around. This is all POSE! Always remember this when perusing Instagram … most models just really know their angles.”

March 17, 2019
Jenna gave us another reminder to take photos of your progress, which is far from bad advice. “I cannot stress enough the importance of taking ‘before pics,’ she wrote. “I HATED SEEING THESE PICTURES UNTIL I STARTED SEEING PROGRESS! So if you are beginning your journey or even thinking about #keto please take my advice and take jumping off pictures!!!!”

March 26, 2019
In a post about her sobriety, she got real about what sobriety can do to your weight. “This before picture is shortly after me getting sober. This is pre Batel. It’s important we talk about the aftermath of new sobriety,” she explained. “Raw feelings, fear, unsure how to deal with all the changes. The good far outweighs anything, that’s for sure. But this shows the effects of alcohol on your body. Sobriety is a game changer, not only are you bright, clear and capable … your gut says bye bye!”
34 of 39

March 28, 2019
Seriously important posing advice, incoming: “Here’s another pose post! Both are cute, but one exaggerates the hips and the other elongates! See the difference in body types even though both are me! Also holding your arm back and behind your body makes it look thinner!”
35 of 39

April 2, 2019
In a dramatic side-by-side transformation photo, Jenna reconciled with her old body and shared a few regrets, despite her incredible progress. “Here’s a bit of advice that can be a hard pill to swallow. It’s almost swimsuit season, and I wholeheartedly believe in embracing what you’re working with and stop feeling ashamed about your current body type,” she wrote. “For all of us women, it’s SO difficult to participate in ‘swimming activities’ for fear of judgement from others. Looking back, I wish I wouldn’t have skipped out on beach days when I knew I’d see friends, or when I’d wear a full length sun dress to the pool. I remember feeling anxiety walking around the pool after Batelli, knowing my cellulite was shaking. But I guarantee you no one cared, only me. I hope that you realize you’re beautiful and your effort to get healthy doesn’t go unnoticed. So, yes, take this health journey with me, but also know that you’re fucking perfect the way you are!”
36 of 39

April 8, 2019
Jenna also shared one of the plights of being a Keto mom: meal prep for the kiddos. “Now that my three stepsons are here for the next few months, it’s so important I focus and keep on track. Preparing meals for kids while avoiding excessive carbs isn’t easy,” she explained. “So I make sure I make meals that we all can enjoy together, while the carbs are easily subtracted for me! I love making spaghetti bolognese for them, and I just eat mine with zucchini noodles! Also I will roast chicken or brisket with potatoes and I’ll forgo the spuds. Moral of this post is, being a #keto mom is quite doable!”
37 of 39

April 15, 2019
“UUUGH. I didn’t want to post this before picture,” she wrote about a dramatic side-by-side showing her progress. “But once I mulled it over in my mind, I realized how important normalizing women’s true bodies is. This is normal. This is beautiful. My transition to health has helped me realize a lot of my connection to ‘skinniness’ was unhealthy. It’s very possible to be thin and frightening unhealthy. So thickness does not equate to being sick, but mine was. I was pre diabetic, and a literal sloth. I remember back when I weighed 80 lbs and was starving myself … I thought that was pretty at the time but had no clue. I’m now a healthy size 4 and can keep up with my kids. Hallelujah! So remember these #beforeandafter pictures aren’t just to show the esthetics of being slim, they show hard work and attention to my inside health. This is a years worth of recalibration and focus.”
38 of 39

April 23, 2019
“I’ve finally gotten the hang of health. I have found my perfect weight,” she happily revealed. “I had dropped down to 120 and I felt a little off. So I added back calories, but stayed #keto and I’m back up to 125. This feels like my body is running optimally. You can see in these pics most of the change is in my waist … I still have nice muscle in my legs. The point to this post is how the #ketodiet is easily manipulated to serve you! Your body runs beautifully while in ketosis, but if you want to maintain or even add weight, it’s absolutely easy just by adjusting your caloric intake. While in weight loss mode, caloric deficit is paramount!”
39 of 39

May 1, 2019
And finally, she celebrated one year on the famous diet. “Today I celebrate 1 year of being #keto,” she wrote. “I have absolutely never felt better! Combining #sobriety, the keto lifestyle and intermittent fasting is the perfect trifecta for me when it comes to a healthy sustainable fitness journey. Thanks everyone for supporting me and joining me in my quest for ultimate health!!!” Great job, girl!
