Are we jealous or proud? Definitely a little of both for this one. Forbes recently released their 2018 list of the highest paid YouTubers, and the number one ranking went to the tiniest mogul. Topping the list is seven-year-old Ryan of Ryan ToysReview. That’s right, a seven-year-old child made $22 million dollars this past year and you can’t even get a text back.

Ryan is a pretty typical kid who loves watching cartoons, playing with Legos, and doing science experiments. The ~only~ difference is he also has 17 million followers. Although it looks like total effortless fun, this kid is working. This past year, he earned $22 million and beat out popular personalities like Jake Paul, Dude Perfect, and Jeffree Star. While Ryan’s status is shocking given his age, it’s kind of satisfying to see his success over more controversial people (cough, the Paul brothers, cough). Ryan’s parents appear very often in his videos and they (obviously) are the main fuel for his channel.

Last year, Ryan tied with the sketch channel Smosh for the number eight spot on Forbes‘ list, raking in an impressive $11 million. So, what gave him such a big boost in ranking and salary? Besides hosting a whopping six channels in total, Ryan has some very powerful connections.

His biggest news this year was the launch of his merchandise line, Ryan’s World, with Walmart. At the beginning of August, the toyline was available at 2,500 Walmart locations, and it’s just been expanding from there. Although the Forbes‘ earning estimates start and end in June, it’s probable that Ryan inked the deal before the beginning of summer and developed the line after that.

There are tight criteria taken into consideration for this prestigious earnings list. “All earnings estimates are from June 1, 2017, through June 1, 2018. Figures are pretax; fees for agents, managers, and lawyers are not deducted,” according to Forbes‘ website.

You’ve had a great year, Ryan! You’ve also made us all ask ourselves, “What am I doing with my life?”
