Scary! Kelly Clarkson had emergency surgery to remove her appendix hours after hosting the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on May 1. While watching the upbeat award show, you would never guess that the songstress was in pain because she was amazing on stage. However, she revealed that she was actually in excruciating pain.

“Kelly Clarkson has been suffering from appendicitis all week [and] had her appendix removed this morning — yet last night she flawlessly hosted an award show and sang two songs without showing any sign of discomfort,” someone on Twitter wrote while adding, “How could you do anything BUT STAN?!?”

The 37-year-old confirmed that it was tough to work through. “Not gonna lie … I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain,” she tweeted in response. “BUT thanks [to] all the amazing people [at] Cedars-Sinai [Hospital]. I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning, [and] feeling awesome now! Bye, bye appendix.”

Fans were floored by the mom-of-two’s revelation. One person gushed, “OK let’s get this straight … you walk the carpet, open the show with an insane medley, host the show, perform your song all with appendicitis?! Gurl, we do not deserve you and apparently, neither does your appendix.” Someone else raved, “Seriously!! You are a goddess!! A damn legend!” Another person wrote, “Nothing but respect for my American Idol! Feel better and rest up!”

The Texas native sang, danced and joked around with the audience while hosting the fun show in Las Vegas. Her first performance to kick off the evening was an epic mashup of A-list artists, including Cardi B and Bebe Rexha. She then hopped back on stage later to belt out the touching song “Broken & Beautiful” from her upcoming film Ugly Dolls. It was so powerful, even Chrissy Metz shed a tear during it.

One thing is for sure: No one works harder than Kelly.
