The royal throne isn’t the only thing Prince Charles is in line for, because he might just take the throne for being the most extra in his fam! Like any royal, we’d expect special treatment, but this might actually be taking it too far. Apparently, the Prince of Wales likes his shoelaces to be ironed, among a bunch of other crazy requests.

According to Serving the Royals: Inside the Firm, an Amazon documentary which profiles 1,200 people belonging to the royal family’s staff, Charles has a long list of things he demands on a daily basis — giving any diva a run for their money. Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, revealed that “everything is done” for Charles. The staff even refer to him as “the pampered prince.”

“His pajamas are pressed every morning, his shoelaces are pressed flat with an iron, the bath plug has to be in a certain position, and the water temperature has to be just tepid,” Paul said in the documentary. But wait, it gets worse. Charles doesn’t like doing even the simplest of things himself. “He has his valets squeeze one inch of toothpaste onto his toothbrush every morning,” added Paul.

“On one occasion, he rang me from his library and he said, ‘Oh Paul, a letter from the Queen seems to have fallen into my wastepaper bin. Would you pick it out?'” Paul said. If this is the Prince now, we can only imagine his over-the-top requests as King!

There’s a chance we may never find out, though. Typically in monarchy law, the Queen’s first child is granted full power to the reign after she resigns or passes. Since Prince Charles is the oldest of his siblings, he would be in line after Queen Elizabeth. However, the Queen is the Queen and she can bend or alter rules as she pleases. It’s been reported that she “rather pass the throne to the new generation of royals, Kate [Middleton] and [Prince] William,” according to a source who spoke to In Touch Weekly magazine.

This would mean William, Kate, and their children would be next in line for the throne, which leaves Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in sixth place if William and Kate don’t have more children. Hopefully, none of them end up being as pampered as Prince Charles!
