As it turns out, being a celebrity isn’t all sunshine and roses. On January 17, Vanessa Hudgens sat down with James Corden on The Late Late Show, where she recalled a seriously wild encounter she once had with the parent of a High School Musical fan. Watch the video above to see her tell the story and don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

“Parents will do anything for their kids, right?” the actress, 30, began. “So I remember, one time in particular, I was running to my gate and the airport, literally running, and this woman was like, ‘Oh my God, my daughter loves you!’ And I was like, ‘Thank you!'” Get ready, people, the story only goes downhill from here.

“And she’s like, ‘I need a picture!’ And I was like, ‘I really can’t right now, I’m trying to get to my gate,'” Vanessa continued. “And she’s like, ‘Come on! You owe this to me!’ And I was like, ‘I don’t owe you anything.’ And then she goes, ‘You’re a bitch!’ I was like, ‘I’m sorry?'”

Damn, those High School Musical moms didn’t mess around, huh? We understand that fan culture can be pretty intense — especially when preteens are involved — but let’s all agree not to accost celebrities in the airport, OK? Great. Thankfully, Vanessa’s career catapulted after her role as Gabriella Montez and she’s gone on to do some more, er, highbrow things.

Sucker Punch, Spring Breakers, Grease Live! and Gimmie Shelter are just a few of Vanessa’s more prominent roles in her post-Disney years. Most recently, however, she starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in the 2018 film Second Act. Here’s hoping that her friends (and their parents) are a bit tamer nowadays. Then again, the High School Musical fandom is still alive and well. . . or so, uh, we hear, at least.
