‘Mille Tendresse’

Two years after her first tat, Ari got “mille tendresse” inked on the back of her neck. The French phrase translates to “a thousand tendernesses” and was made famous in Truman Capote’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s — one of the singer’s favorite movies. Her ex-fiancé, Pete Davidson, also got the same ink in the same spot back in 2018. Months later, he covered the tattoo with the word “cursed.”

‘Belissima’

Back in 2014, the brunette beauty got “Belissima” tattooed on her left side(boob), a nod to her late grandfather, Frank Grande. It is believed the beloved family member called the singer the sweet nickname, which translates to “gorgeous” in Italian.

Crescent Moon

In 2015, Ari added her fourth tattoo to the roster: a sweet crescent moon behind her left ear. It was no surprise to see her decide to get the cute symbol tattooed when she has a song called “Moonlight” on her album, Dangerous Woman, and her Snapchat handle is @moonlightbae but, you know.

“Honeymoon”

Ari got the tattoo named for her Honeymoon Avenue album sometime during her tour from early 2015 to that October. Around the same time, she also got a small Hebrew phrase tattooed on her right ring finger as a nod to her faith in Kabbalah.

Another Heart

The singer isn’t just about moons — she’s also all about hearts. After she tattooed a small one on her toe, she did the same to her right ring finger.

‘Baby Doll’

Though she didn’t ever spcifically say when she got the tat, in 2016, fans started seeing a lot of the “Baby Doll” tattoo on Ari’s left middle finger. It’s believed that “Baby Doll” was another nickname given to Ari by a family member, most likely her Grandpa.

“A”

In August 2016, Ari showed her dedication to her BFF Alexa by getting her initial tattooed on her finger. Friendship goals, indeed.

Venus Symbol

The “A” was done by L.A. based artist Dr. Woo, who also did this Venus symbol Ari got on her finger around the same time.

Worker Bee

A year after the devastating terror attack during her show at Manchester Arena, Ari tattooed a worker bee (the symbol of Manchester), just above her existing moon tattoo behind her left ear.

“Lumos”

The singer is a well-known Harry Potter nerd, so she got the wand-lighting charm, “Lumos,” tattooed on her right hand.

Cloud

We all know Ari digs clouds (hello, her emoji usage), but when fans spotted the cute finger tattoo amid her relationship with her ex-fiancé, we didn’t know she was about to go on a tattoo spree with her former flame. But it was just a sign of things to come …

“H2GKMO”

… Like this acronym she got tattooed with Pete, 25, which alluded to one of her favorite catch-phrases, “honest to god, knock me out.” The SNL star has since covered this one up with a black arrow.

“Court”

The same day she revealed her acronym tat with Pete, she also showed off a tattoo dedicated to her BFF Courtney Chipolone: a little written out “Court” on her knee. Since she’s always in thigh high boots, this one might be tough to get a glimpse of — but you can spot it in the “7 Rings” music video.

Lightening Bolt

Though we’re unsure of the exact timeline on this little addition, fans noticed a tiny lightening bolt behind her ear during the “God is a woman” music video. In Harry Potter fashion, maybe it appeared by magic.

“561”

In June 2018, Ari posted a photo of her hand with two new tats on it to her Instagram Story. One of them was the number “561,” a.k.a. the area code for Boca Raton, where the singer was born and raised. The other, “reborn,” was a few inches below it — but has since been covered up. Keep reading!

Chihiro

In August 2018, Ari went in on another tattoo inspired by the iconic Japanese anime film, Spirited Away. She got a portrait of the main character, Chihiro, on the inside of her right forearm — her largest at that point.

Olive Branch

A few weeks following her split from Pete in October 2018, Ariana covered up the “reborn” tattoo on her left hand with an olive branch. Seems pretty symbolic, don’t you think?

“REM”

In the music video for “Breathin’“off her recent album, Sweetener, Ari revealed two more tattoos behind her ear. She got “REM,” named for one of her favorite tracks from the album, and a third heart tattoo. You can catch a quick glimpse of these bad boys at 2:22, if you watch the vid.

Black Heart

Immediately following the demise of her engagement, Ari covered her “Pete” tattoo with a band-aid. Yeah, she wasn’t playing around. But soon enough, fans got to see the final cover-up in her “thank u, next” music video: a black heart.

“Myron”

Ari showed off two new foot tats (“Myron” and a group of stars) during the behind-the-scenes featurette for “thank u, next.” The name “Myron” has special significance to the singer, as it is the name of a pup belonging to her late BF Mac Miller. She adopted the dog after the rapper’s passing in September 2018.

Stars and Moon

This epic hand tattoo was done by @girlknewyork, a.k.a. Mira Mariah, just after Ari accepted her Billboard Woman of the Year award in December 2018 but it has even more significance than that. Marjorie, Ari’s grandma (a.k.a. Nonna!) got her first tattoo the same night. What a party, y’all.

Let’s Sing

After a pretty wild 2018, the singer closed out the year with a sweet tattoo that read “Let’s Sing” in Japanese. Clearly, she was looking forward to a new beginning.

Eevee

A few weeks later, Ariana showed up on the ‘gram with a huge new tat on her right arm: Eevee, the Pokémon. “Grateful as f—k, bye,” she captioned the photo, tagging artist Kane Navasard.

“Japanese Barbecue Finger”

This one was a doozy. Ari got a new tat in January to honor her song, “7 Rings,” and how well it was charting. Unfortunately, her roughly translated tat ended up reading “shichirin,” which is actually a Japanese-style barbecue grill. Oops! Two days after the Internet went wild about the botched tat, she fixed the art and added another character and a heart to finally read, “七輪指♡.”

But since Japanese is read vertically from top to bottom as well as right to left, the change doesn’t actually translate to “7 Rings,” but to “Japanese barbecue finger.” The pain was a little much for Ari, so she has since resigned to the fact that she probably won’t change it up again. You tried, girl.

Leaf

Ariana decided to “evolve” her “Always” tattoo, which is said to be in her ex Pete’s handwriting, into a huge leaf piece done by Mira during a late night hang sesh.

Vines

Three months after, she added another finger tat to her collection — a vine wrapping around her right index finger, also by Mira. “My hands make me so happy,” she wrote in an Instagram Story showing off the work. The botanical work was also a cover-up of an older tattoo of Grande’s: “9 3/4,” another Harry Potter reference fans suspect related back to Pete.

Crying Eye and Chevron Lines

The same week she revealed her vine tat, fans also noticed a few more new finger tats during her tour meet-and-greets. Ari added two chevron lines to her left index finger and a crying eye with three tears.

‘The Truman Show’

On June 22, Ari showed off one of Courtney’s new tats, inspired by the legendary Jim Carrey movie, The Truman Show. On her back left shoulder it says, “In case I don’t see ya good afternoon good evening and good night!” Though the singer didn’t show off her version, on her Instagram Story she confirmed she got the same tat — just upside down. On November 14, Ari showed off new hand tats on her Instagram Story. “Newest addition to my glove,” she captioned the photo of the ink, which read “Tolouse” for her dog. She also tagged her tattoo artist pal Mira Mariah, a.k.a. @girlknewyork.
