Ashley Graham Admits Having Kids Is ‘Far Down the Road’ — But She Still Dreams About Her Future!
Baby, maybe? Ashley Graham is not planning to have kids tomorrow with her husband, Justin Ervin, but she does a lot of thinking about how she will raise her future family. The model knows what kind of mom she wants to be someday because of her desire to walk in other people’s shoes.
“The more you have conversations with people around you that are different than you, [the more] you’re going to learn and you’re going to grow,” the 31-year-old explained to Allure in an interview that was published on Tuesday, June 18. “No one who isn’t black is going to understand a black person’s life, but they don’t have to be ignorant toward [what it’s like].”
The Sports Illustrated babe noted that the topic of race is something that she wants to talk openly about with her future kids. “I want to know as much as I can as a white woman who is going to be raising black children,” she divulged. “We’re going to have to have that conversation of ‘Mommy’s white, Daddy’s black,’ and I want to be prepared.” The activist also stressed how important it is to “read books, have conversations and educate yourself.”
Although Ashley sounds fully equipped to handle her own kiddos, she mentioned, “It’s just too far down the road for me to even think about.” We think her and her hubby would have the sweetest family if they ever decide to.
The American Beauty Star host always keeps things very candid about her marriage. She surprisingly revealed in January that she and Justin waited until marriage before having sex. “Something that it did for us was build up our friendship, and it also built up our trust and communication,” Ashley told Elle magazine at the time. “Of course, we were sexually attracted to each other — we would make out heavily. All those things were there. I wasn’t worried about, ‘What’s sex gonna be like with him?’ It was more, ‘Do I trust him? Is he someone I want to be with for the rest of my life?'”
It looks like things worked out pretty well for the gorgeous pair!
