Smiling from ear to ear! Amy Schumer gave birth to her first child, Gene, on May 5, and motherhood has been treating her just right, according to her close friend, Bridget Everett.

“She’s doing great. She’s so happy,” the 47-year-old told Us Weekly at the Jacqueline Novak: Get On Your Knees opening night in New York City on July 22. “She’s so in love. I’ve never seen her like this. She’s just full of joy. And it’s such a great thing to see. She’s always happy, but this is another level.”

The Patti Cake$ star also took the opportunity to poke fun at their friendship. “I thought the happiest she would ever be was on the couch with me drinking chardonnay,” she joked. “But apparently there’s another level after that.” As any good friend, Bridget thinks highly of her pal, but even more so now that she’s a mother. She said the 38-year-old is “a nurturing, loving person and it just really pulls all that into focus and it’s a beautiful thing to see.” Aw!

As for Bridget’s thoughts on Amy having another baby with her husband Chris Fischer anytime soon? Well, she thinks it’s unlikely for now. “I think she had a tough pregnancy,” the blonde beauty admitted. “I think she’s done enough!”

While Amy hasn’t openly spoken about expanding her family, she was vocal about the challenges she faced while being pregnant. The I Feel Pretty star often took to social media to express her frustrations, including having hyperemesis gravidarum, which “is a condition characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and electrolyte disturbance. Mild cases are treated with dietary changes, rest, and antacids,” according to the American Pregnancy Association. “More severe cases often require a stay in the hospital so that the mother can receive fluid and nutrition through an intravenous line (IV).”

Thankfully, all the struggles were well worth it!
