We stan a relatable metaphor! With the series finale of Game of Thrones on the horizon, Emilia Clarke recently reflected on what her journey with the hit HBO show has been like. “I think ending it was just the mother of all releases,” the powerhouse actress, 32, told Harper’s Bazaar. “It was just the metaphorical undoing of the bra, except it’s like a 10-year experience.”

We don’t know about y’all, but that sounds oddly satisfying. Plus, at this point, we’ll take anything Emilia says as gospel. After all, she’s become one of the most beloved, empowering and badass women in television. Seriously, what was life even like before Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons? Not a world we want to live in, that’s what.

Perhaps even more heartfelt than Emilia’s summary of her time on GoT was the Emmy nominee’s description of her final scene. Fair warning: If you’re a diehard fan of the show, prepare to get emotional. “I started to do a little speech, not because I’m a pretentious actor, but because every time we said goodbye to a character, David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], the showrunners would give us a gift and the crew would be around and everyone would stop and you’d sort of say a few words and it was really beautiful,” Emilia explained.

“I mean, I got three words in before I just completely broke down. You just hold it in and you’re holding it in and you’re holding it in, and then I just burst into tears like a complete idiot,” she continued. *Pauses to wipe tears.* “Then we cracked open the champagne, but it was then that I realized that alcohol is a depressant! So it was less a celebratory champagne, it was more kind of like, [pretends to sob] ‘We did it! We got to the finish line!’”

Wow. Talk about the definition of bittersweet, huh? The final season of Game of Thrones airs on HBO on Sunday, April 14 at 9 p.m. ET. If you don’t have a subscription to HBO, now would be the time to steal your parent’s. You’re welcome for the #Adulting advice.
