Sophie Turner Wasn’t Allowed to Wash Her Hair While Filming Later Seasons of ‘Game of Thrones’
The night is dark and full of terrors and as it happens, so is Sophie Turner’s hair. Speaking with InStyle, the Game of Thrones actress, 22, revealed that during the later seasons of the hit HBO series, she wasn’t allowed to wash her gorgeous red locks. “Well, for the first few seasons I was allowed to wash my hair because I was an aristocratic young girl,” Sophie told the publication. “Towards season five they started asking me to not wash my hair and it was really disgusting.”
For those of you who don’t watch the series — you should be ashamed of yourselves — Sophie plays the role of Sansa Stark. In the earlier days of GoT, Sansa was essentially considered royalty in the Seven Kingdoms. As the show progressed, however, her character became much grittier. We’re not going to tell you why, BTW. Just. Watch. The. Show.
Additionally, Sophie’s character hails from Winterfell, which means dealing with lots and lots of unpleasant natural elements. “We would have the snow machines going so we would have little snow paper particles that would get stuck in the grease. It was disgusting,” Sophie continued.
Despite all of her discomfort, though, it turns out that her co-star Kit Harington, who plays the ever-hunky Jon Snow, had the biggest issue with the no hair washing rule. “He probably takes the most care of his hair out of like everyone on the show I know,” Sophie admitted. “He’s obsessed. Before red carpets you would always see him scrunching the ends of his curls to make sure they’re perfect. We all take the piss out on him for that.”
To be hair, Kit’s curls are perfection and should be treated as such. So, we please ask that the cast stops taking “the piss out on him.” OK, thank you.
