It’s over! Katie Morton and Chris Bukowski officially announced their split on December 10, just three months after getting engaged on Bachelor in Paradise. The couple admitted that their relationship was rocky during the finale aftershow in September.

“One of the many lessons this life has taught us is that it’s OK to be stubborn in the pursuit of happiness,” Katie, 26, began a lengthy statement on Instagram along with a photo of her and the 32-year-old. “To fight for what is real and good, and that [oftentimes] the hardest thing and the right thing are the same.”

According to the statement, they are parting ways on good terms. “We’ve reached a point in our story where we agree it’s best to go our separate ways. We have chosen to love and respect each other as friends because that’s the base of our relationship, and it’s what is most natural for us,” Katie’s statement continued. “We are incredibly thankful for the support we’ve received from our family, friends and everyone who supported us throughout our journey — from Paradise to this moment. We are grateful for everything that we’ve learned in this chapter, and are hopeful for what is to come in life and in love for both of us.”

Chris posted the same statement on his Instagram shortly after Katie. The Illinois native shared a photo of the pair on the beach in Mexico after they got engaged. “I’ll cherish this pictured moment for [the] rest of my life,” he added in the comments about the sentimental image.

Fans were crushed by the news. “This is the most heartbreaking breakup ever but I wish you both the best,” one comment read. “Sad for you guys! You would have made some really cute babies,” someone else added. “I was rooting for you guys! Unfortunately, life has other plans … All the best in finding your one,” a separate user echoed.

Three couples got engaged during the season 6 finale. However, only Hannah Godwin and Dylan Barbour are still together after the Bachelor Nation stud got down on one knee in Mexico. Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty both sported Neil Lane rings for a few months but announced their breakup on October 31.

Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes are still dating after leaving the beach in a relationship but not engaged. Tayshia Adams and John Paul Jones also got together after the show wrapped but revealed on October 30 that they had split.

Well, another one bites the dust.
