Marcus and Lacy’s Fake Wedding
In 2015, fans watched Marcus Grodd and Lacy Faddoul‘s wedding ceremony play out on the same beach where they met during season 1. Despite the white dress and exchange of “I do,” Marcus revealed that they were never legally married.
“It feels like she’s a runaway bride,” he exclusively told Life and Style in 2016. “We had this fantastic relationship, and then it totally vanished. It was like she ran away.” He added, “When we came back, we were supposed to start the paperwork. But she stalled … I feel duped.”

Chris Harrison Has Receipts
This was truly wild. Sam Steffen crashed the beach during season 2 and ripped apart Joe Bailey‘s relationship with Juelia Kinney. The two had had been texting before the show and it was revealed that Joe was just using Juelia until Sam showed up. In a turn of events, Sam was actually hanging around with Joe in hopes of meeting Nick Peterson, who did eventually arrive. Sam immediately dropped Joe to get with the stud. Are you keeping up?
While on-screen, Sam denied texting with Joe before meeting on the show. Luckily, Chris Harrison walked into the After Paradise special with a leather-bound book filled with 400 text messages between the two. Beware of receipts!

Chad Goes Way Overboard

Ashley Says Caila Is a ‘Backstabbing Whore’
Ashley Iaconetti‘s choice of words to describe Caila Quinn after her relationship heated up with Jared Haibon during season 3 was very unfortunate and not cool at all. She was upset because, before appearing on the show, Caila told Ashley that she wasn’t planning on going after Jared and that he “wasn’t her type.” Things became so tense on the beach that Caila and Jared ended up quitting the show together during week 5 and pursued a romance off-screen. Shortly after, they went their separate ways with Caila blaming Jared’s close friendship with Ashley as the cause during After Paradise.

Fans rallied for Dean Unglert and Kristina Schulman to get together during their time on season 4. Although Dean wasn’t ready to fully ready to commit to the Russian beauty, he kept her around while he charmed Danielle Lombard. The problem with Paradise? Scallop Fingers Is Born
Poor, Christen Whitney. She was eager to arrive during season 4 and then got the most unfortunate nickname. Fellow contestant Alexis Waters recounted a story about them going out one night and, while in the car, Christen whipped out a container of scallops and started eating them with her fingers. She then touched Alexis’ back with said fingers. The rest of the cast really took off with the joke and Scallop Fingers will now forever be a thing.

Amanda and Robby Take Their Drama Off-Screen
Amanda and Robby Hayes‘ whirlwind romance crashed and burned like no other. The gorgeous contestant posted a photo on Twitter of him supposedly making out with another girl with the caption, “Look what you made me do.” It was super juicy and shocking to watch unfold.
“He never really treated me like his girlfriend, you know? He was still going out with his friends all the time, kind of going MIA for a few days,” Amanda told E! about their romance. “It was just a confusing situation. I don’t think that he did anything wrong, I just think that he’s not ready for a relationship.”

Derek Says ‘F—k You’ to Taylor
We all clutched our pearls when the sturdiest couple during season 4 of Paradise got into an enormous fight that ended with Derek Peth hurling an F-bomb in Taylor Nolan‘s direction. This upset the brunette beauty who had previously divulged that she was in verbally abusive relationships. They made up and left the show happily engaged … until their split less than a year later.

Ashley Gets Engaged … in Front of Her Ex
Fans were happy when Ashley finally got her guy. It was adorable to see them get engaged after all the drama they endured. The only person who didn’t seem to like it that much was Ashley’s ex from Bachelor Winter Games, Kevin Wendt.
“When Ashley and I left Winter Games, I knew I wanted to marry her one day. And then all of the sudden, Jared flips the switch, and now he wants to be with her,” Kevin later said. “I did try to make it work, but if you kiss another guy while you’re dating someone else, it’s cheating in my book.” While he had some residual saltiness, the firefighter is still with Astrid Loch, whom he met during season 5.

Chad Tells Off Chris Harrison and Maybe Poops His Pants
Everyone was done with Chad after his savage quotes about Sarah. Our beloved host ended up kicking him off after just one day on the show. This sent Chad into a tailspin and he started hurling insults like “F—k you, Chris Harrison.” Sometime during his meltdown, Chad’s backside became covered in a brown mystery substance that had fans plugging their noses. He’s since denied that it was doody, but still, the rumors swirled.

The Scandal That Shook ‘Paradise’
Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson‘s scandal shook the entire franchise. Production was completely shut down after an alleged misconduct took place between the two contestants, and questions floated around about Corinne’s ability to consent. There was a lot of disagreement about what happened, so the contestants were sent home so Warner Bros. could investigate. No misconduct was found and the show resumed filming, which resulted in a very strange and condensed season. As for Corinne and DeMario, they still remain friends.

Michelle’s Affair With a Producer
During season 1, Michelle Kujawa left Paradise and engaged in a relationship with one of the producers. The rest of production started to get hip to what was going on and tried confronting the contestant in her hotel room. The producer, who was hanging out with her at the time, got spooked and jumped off the balcony of Michelle’s hotel room and broke both of his legs. The show then aired a true-crime style re-enactment that was both entertaining and overly bizarre.
