Five years after the last episode of Jersey Shore aired, Vinny Guadagnino and the gang have reunited in Miami for MTV’s spinoff series Jersey Shore Family Vacation. The funny man and his Keto diet made their way down south with the rest of the cast (minus Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola) but this time around, the reality stars are older and slightly wiser.
Vinny reflected on his growth with co-stars Pauly D and Deena Cortese on the MTV series, and opened up about his decision to quit the show once upon a time. “Remember when I left and had anxiety? Was I mean to anybody?” he asked, referring to Snooki’s decision to avoid him in the house due to their pre-marriage hookups.
So, why did Vinny go home on Jersey Shore in 2012?
Fans of the reality show will remember that Vinny made the decision to stop filming during the final season. At the time, he opened up about his private battle with anxiety after filming back-to-back seasons of the Jersey Shore. “It’s a terrible environment for me to be in when I’m anxious because there’s drinking involved, there’s fighting involved, a lack of sleep, a lack of privacy,” he said at the time. “When my anxiety starts to interfere with my job, my school, or things that I do in my every day life, it starts to become a problem.”
Today, he seems to be managing his anxiety much better.
Why wasn’t Vinny invited to Snooki’s wedding?
Vinny told Life & Style he wasn’t invited to her and Jionni LaValle‘s November 2014 wedding because he joked about their hookup during a stand-up skit. “I think it was just because of me doing comedy and going on podcast and going up on stage. I would tell stories about hooking up with her. This is my life and I’m going to tell it. That’s what people want to know,” he explained.
Snooks admitted this did contribute to their fallout, but insisted things were fine before the reboot. “I get it, it was in the past, whatever — but to use me for comic relief? Like, knowing that it’s not cool to talk about that anymore, you know, when I’m married — that’s just not really something a friend would do, you know? I kind of backed away from him after that — but we talked it out and we’re fine. We’re over it,” she shared.
“I honestly don’t like to hold grudges with anyone, especially with the roomies just because you only live once and they’re all like my best friends and family. So we’re obviously still going to fight and have things like that happen, but then get over it and don’t do it again.”
Why did Vinny break up with his girlfriend?
Vinny couldn’t stop gushing about his girlfriend Elicea Shyann on the current season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation. However, the relationship was short-lived and the couple broke up right around the premiere. According to Vinny, filming was to blame for their split. “You don’t talk to the person for a month because you don’t have a cell phone, you don’t have a TV… you don’t have communication so, you’re like calling them every other day… On the duck phone! You can’t even hear them,” he explained to Entertainment Tonight.
Add in long distance (she lives on the West Coast), and they just couldn’t make it work. However, Vinny is leaving the door to a reconciliation open. “A lot of things just made us feel like listen this can’t happen right now, maybe down the line,” he added. “I really care about her but the logistics of the relationship are not working. I hope that the logistics work out one day so we can be.”
