Before finding love on The Bachelor, our leading man Colton Underwood was in a relationship with Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman. Although he’s remained relatively hush-hush about his dating past, the former football player revealed some things about his former girlfriend during an appearance on The Lady Gang podcast.

During his interview, Colton, 26, admitted he’s “always dated to marry” and that there’s more to him “than being a virgin.” Although he’s currently dating over 20 women, the 26-year-old is used to being a one-woman man. He divulged that Aly, 24, was his “first love” and hinted during the podcast that his “worst heartbreak…wasn’t on the show.” TBH, we’d also be super sad if we weren’t able to hang with the gold medal winner either.

However, there was a silver lining. “While it was confusing and hard in the beginning, it also taught me a lot about myself: What I need, what I want, what I can do better in a relationship,” Colton explained about their former romance. “It was a big step for me. It was really tough.”

After taking time to heal from that breakup, the reality star is ready for brighter things on the horizon. He’s already forming strong connections with several of his contestants. However, the former NFL stud hinted at the idea that he might not get down on one knee during the finale.

“Of course, you want it to end in marriage, [but] it’s for a proposal,” Colton told reporters on Jan. 3. “It’s typical to fall in love, and to find your person, to spend time developing a relationship and spending time on a relationship and on your personal life. And that’s exactly what I did.”

“I wanted to make sure that I did things my way, and I know that sounds sort of brutal to say, but because there has been a format to this show, and there has been success attached, for a reason, but everybody loves differently,” he explained further. “Everybody goes through this process differently, and I’m included in that.”

Although that sounds grim, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that Colton finds his happy ending.
