Branded ContentCamera Ready! Behind The Scenes With A Celebrity Makeup Artist
Award shows such as the Emmy’s, Grammy’s and Academy Awards may look a little different from previous years, but nothing dims the glamour or the bright lights of the camera. The show must go on, the cameras keep rolling — and behind every flawless face there is a team of extraordinary makeup artists!
Magic or inspired talent, these beauty pros serve up enough beauty inspo in one night to paper three or four of your high-school pinup boards. But what’s it really like to be getting back to work?
“When it comes to keeping everyone safe, we’re doing things very differently”, says professional MUA, Elena Arroy, who’s currently in Las Vegas working on a new reality show.
What’s the new normal behind the scenes look like?
Pre-pandemic, makeup tables used to be a disarray of brushes, makeup, tools and supplies. The new normal post-pandemic? Now everything must be organized, labeled and safely stored between each and every client. Every celebrity also gets his or her own unique set of makeup brushes and tools, like lash curlers, which can add up fast.
When it comes down to pulling off those glamorous, camera-ready looks? Arroy recommends turning the trusted tools and brushes of Japonesque.
“Japonesque makeup brushes have been a lifesaver. They perform with professional results but are so affordable — they don’t break the bank when I have to buy multiples” says Arroy.
