Stop the hate! Camila Cabello is begging fans to be kinder to her ex-boyfriend Matthew Hussey after news broke yesterday that they split after one year of dating. The songstress wrote a heartfelt message to her Instagram followers and it sounds like she’s definitely struggling a bit through the breakup.

“To my fans,” the 22-year-old began the lengthy post on Wednesday, June 26. “If you really love me, please do not send people I love and care about hateful things.” The singer mentioned that she is feeling extremely hurt and the social media response is not helping. “You doing that really hurts me and it’s so unnecessary and heavy and damaging to add more pain to pain.”

She was quick to remind people that hurtful words over a computer can affect people in real life. “There’s a real person behind your tweets. You spamming them with hateful, insensitive things is really not funny, is causing all of us pain and doesn’t [at] all reflect the values I talk about.” It doesn’t sound like she has any saltiness towards her 32-year-old ex. The “Havana” artist pleaded for users to be more civil towards the British author. “Please be kind and compassionate and sensitive and respectful. I know you love me, but anyone that’s doing that is really not even respecting the sacred things in my life. The people I love and care about is one of them.”

The “Never Be the Same” singer requested that fans take action against the hate. “I would really appreciate it if you would delete any mean comments you’ve sent and please be kind by leaving it alone.”

Camila and Matthew were first spotted getting cozy on vacation together in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, back in February 2018. Just one month later, the brunette beauty gushed, “You know what, I am really, really happy … I feel like I’ve never been happier in my life,” during an appearance on “The Dan Wootton Interview” podcast.

It seemed like they were still going strong eight months later when Camila did an interview with Marie Claire in November. “He’s so similar to me,” she said at the time. “In person, we’re just weird and silly and stupid together. He makes me the happiest I’ve ever been in my life.”

We hope Camila’s broken heart mends quickly!
