Does Derek Hough Want Kids With GF Hayley Erbert? He Says Yes

Babies on the brain? Possibly for Derek Hough! The dancer sat down exclusively with Life & Style and revealed that he is more into having a child around than walking down the aisle. “You know, it’s weird, actually. I feel like the bug that I have right now is more the kid,” the 34-year-old — who partnered with Lay’s for its upcoming ‘Lay’s Smiles’ program — confessed.

The World of Dance judge first encountered his girlfriend, Hayley Erbert, when she was a backup dancer on Derek and Julianne Hough’s first Move tour in 2014. Derek and Hayley began dating in July 2015 and later on, the pair danced to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” on DWTS Live. “She’s an amazing dancer. We met dancing,” he gushed. Surprisingly, the duo doesn’t bust a move when they’re alone, though. “No, actually, we don’t,” he said while laughing.

But it seems like the handsome hunk and the 24-year-old beauty just enjoy one another’s company. “We have been spending a lot of time together, actually,” he said. “I was on tour, so these past couple of weeks, we have just been moving in, new house and traveling, and it’s been cool.”

Even though Derek is in the spotlight, he admitted they just love the simple things like taking strolls in whatever city they may be in. “We love to walk,” he said. “I know it sounds so stupid, but, like, I just kind of realized that because we were in Paris and London and Cannes, and we clocked 26 miles of walking. We just like to walk and hold hands. We are like an old couple. We are like, ‘Let’s go for a walk, babe.’ And we will walk, and it’s been 10 miles. Just looking at things, stopping at little stores, that is one of our favorite things to do.”

Meanwhile, Derek just finished a 56-city tour and is embarking on his next endeavor: making music! “I have released a new song called ‘Say It Now,’ and the message behind that is sort of, you know, what comes in line with a lot in my life where it’s basically like live in the moment, you know, like don’t wait,” he explained. “I am excited about that, and I am excited about the next tour and creating content and creating new pieces and collecting new ideas.”
