Congratulations are in order for Halsey and her boyfriend, Alev Aydin! The “Without Me” artist and the screenwriter announced the birth of baby No. 1 on Monday, July 19. “Gratitude. For the most ‘rare’ and euphoric birth. Powered by love,” Halsey wrote via Instagram. “Ender Ridley Aydin 7/14/2021.”

The New Jersey native, 26, whose real name is Ashley Frangipane, shocked fans everywhere by announcing that she was pregnant in January. “Surprise!” the “Bad at Love” singer captioned her Instagram post at the time. Halsey also followed up on Twitter and wrote, “My rainbow.”

The term “rainbow baby” refers to a child that’s born into a family that previously lost a child due to miscarriage. Over the years, Halsey has been extremely vocal, especially in her music, about her longtime struggle with reproductive health, as well as experiencing multiple miscarriages.

In January 2020, the Grammy Award-nominee released a song titled “More” off her album Manic. “Wooden floors and little feet / A flower bud in concrete/ Feelin’ so incomplete/ Wonder will we ever meet?/ And would you know it right away/ How hard I try to see your face?/ A little screen, a photograph, mine to take,” Halsey sings.

“For a long time, I didn’t think that that was something … that having a family was something that I was going to be able to do in an effortless manner,” the songwriter expressed during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that month. “[Having a family is] very important to me.”

While pregnant, Halsey embraced the process every step of the way. “I’ve been thinking lots about my body. it’s strange to watch yourself change so quickly,” she wrote via Instagram in February.

“I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about ‘womanhood,’ but truly it has leveled my perception of gender entirely,” Halsey continued. “My sensitivity to my body has made me hyperaware of my humanness and that’s all. Doing a remarkable thing. And it’s grand. I hope the feeling lasts. I cook a lot, sleep even more and read lots of books. I miss my family. And you guys, too!”

As for her relationship with Alev, 38, the pair is doing better than ever! “She wasn’t necessarily hoping to get married before getting pregnant. Marriage is not the sole focus whatsoever,” a source previously revealed to Us Weekly.

“At the end of the day, what matters most is that the baby is healthy and that she has a loving relationship with the father of her baby, and right now, she for sure loves and adores Alev,” the insider added. “They are very much in love.”
