Gym, tan, laundry? Something like that! Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino made a guest appearance on Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s October 10 episode of her “It’s Happening With Snooki and Joey” podcast and spilled some details on what his fitness life was like in prison. It turns out, the Jersey Shore star made great use of the eight months he was in jail and managed to stay active.

“I feel fantastic,” the 37-year-old began. “I’ve lost 40 pounds in this process.” Though it was a challenge, Mike focused on dieting and exercising to achieve his goal. “I worked out twice a day,” he admitted. “I did intermittent fasting 16 hours for the weekdays, and I did 17 to 19 hours on the weekend. What did he do to stay strong? Cardio and weight training! “I would do fasted cardio at 7 a.m. and come back. I would have my protein shake and some food and go back for weights at 12:30 [p.m.]” Mike also divulged that the prison sold both protein shakes and protein bars at the commissary.

Unfortunately, the food was very limited. The reality star only looked forward to Thursdays, which is when they served chicken. To his luck, though, he befriended two guys who worked in the kitchen, and they would give him an extra serving. “I would get the extra food every single day,” he said. We’re not surprised Mike’s personality and charm was a benefit for him, TBH.

The MTV star was arrested in January for tax evasion and by September 12, he was finally a free man. What were the things he missed the most? His wife, Lauren Sorrentino, of course. Besides that, he missed just being normal. “When I first got home, all I wanted to do was spend time with my beautiful wife,” he confessed. “I wanted to have a naked pizza party, and I wanted to watch movies. I wanted to watch Avengers, I wanted to watch Game of Thrones. I had to catch up on all of that TV. I wanted to snuggle with my dog.”

As bad as it was being away from home, Mike is grateful for the experience. “When I came out, I came out better. I guess you can say thank God for that prison,” the TV personality said. We couldn’t be happier for him!
