According to Kate Gosselin‘s former mother-in-law, the reality star’s treatment of her eight kids has gone too far. In an interview with Life & Style, Jon Gosselin‘s mom alleges that her grandchildren are terrified of doing anything wrong out of fear they’ll be punished.

“If these kids spill something, they freak out and panic and cry as if we will hurt them,” she shares. Things recently came to a head on Aug. 15 when one of Kate’s sextuplets, Hannah, refused to get out of her dad’s car and go with her mother. Unfortunately for Jon, the court took his ex-wife’s side during a custody hearing a few days later.

“The judge claimed Jon had manipulated Hannah so she wouldn’t want to see Kate, [then] ended Jon’s 50-50 custody of her and separated Hannah from him for 30 days,” an insider tells Life & Style. “Also, now Jon will no longer see the other children except for a couple of hours on Sundays in a park.”

Jon’s mom claims that Kate encouraged Hannah’s siblings to “shun” her after the incident in order to teach her a lesson. “Hannah also said Kate took the children shopping for school supplies but wouldn’t buy her anything. She is punishing her,” she states. Kate did not respond to a request for comment on these charges.

But that’s not all. “Hannah told me that Kate made her and her brothers and sisters all chant, ‘We will not visit Jon.’ Not even, ‘We will not visit Daddy.’ She makes them call him Jon. And Kate tells the kids she is afraid of me to alienate them from me, too,” Hannah’s grandmother says. For the sake of their children, we hope the exes can find a way to amicably co-parent before it’s too late.
