Hot Tea! Kate Middleton Also Had Staff Members Quit So Meghan Markle Isn’t The Only One
There’s been a lot of rumors swirling around Kensington Palace. Specifically, about Meghan Markle being reportedly “difficult” to get along with. It turns out, there’s always a little shake-up in the royal staff when a new family member joins. Yes, even perfection herself, Kate Middleton, caused a few employees to leave because she went against royal protocol.
People first started raising their eyebrows when Meghan’s aide, 39-year-old Melissa Toubati, quit after just six months working under the new duchess. A source said that the job was “too much” for the employee which led to her resigning after such a short stint. The source told Daily Mail, “Her job was highly pressurized and in the end, it became too much. She put up with quite a lot. Meghan put a lot of demands on her and it ended up with her in tears.”
Well, it turns out, this is actually kind of common. As documented in William & Kate: The Journey, Kate’s head gardener and housekeeper (who are also married) quit at the same time because Kate wasn’t exactly used to the royal life, yet.
Royal reporter Ashley Pearson explained, “It was very controversial because they had actually worked for the queen previously and then came over to work for Prince William and Kate. There was a lot of speculation at the time that Carole Middleton had been interfering in the housekeeper’s duties, that Kate Middleton was doing a lot for herself, and that didn’t sit too well with staff.”
Kate was reportedly put in this “difficult position” because she was used to cleaning up after herself, doing things for Prince William, cooking, and having a little more privacy. Although the two have their differences, it looks like Kate and Meghan can probably relate to each other on this one.
What we’ve all learned today is that it’s totally normal for there to be some movement in the royal staff when someone new comes into the picture. Meghan’s probably learning this every day.
