Kourtney Kardashian Has a Very ‘YOLO’ Approach to Home Decor: ‘I Need to Have the Best’
When it comes to the Kar-Jenners, nobody in the famous family is quite as particular as Kourtney Kardashian. Ultimately, she likes what she likes and wants what she wants and isn’t afraid to say otherwise! As it happens, the KUWTK star, 40, especially applies her high standards to home decor.
Speaking with Rip & Tan founder, Jenni Kayne, Kourtney discussed how and why she chooses certain pieces for her house. “Probably when I had Penelope, I became, like, obsessed. I would sit at night after the kids went to bed, and I would just look at everything and order,” she told Jenni of how her interior design fixation began.
“I feel like your aesthetic is that every single thing should look nice. Like, whether it’s a sponge in your kitchen or if it’s the scissors that you use. I remember being like, ‘Oh my God. You only live once. I need to have the best scissors. It’s not that it’s super expensive,” Kourtney continued.
“It makes me so happy,” she added later. “It’s really about you and how just knowing that you’re using this sponge that’s not the green, classic sponge.”
Now, we know what you might be thinking: “A sponge … seriously?” At first, that was our knee-jerk reaction, too. However, Jenni went on to explain that carefully curating your home can bring just as much joy as your fashion choices. Her motto is to “live well and live beautifully,” which, yes, can mean having a really pretty sponge in your sink!
Of course, sometimes being that particular can cause people to think that you’re mocking them for their choices. Thankfully, Jenni alleviated that worry. “Having a discerning eye means you are very particular and you’re specific about what you gravitate towards and what you like, but it doesn’t mean that you’re judging the way people are doing things.”
Perhaps Kourtney should use that line in her next major fight with Kim Kardashian. “I’m not making fun of your new couch, Kim, I’m using my discerning eye.”
