We’re definitely far from the shallow now! Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper finally took the stage together at an awards show on February 24, and we still have chills after their killer performance of the A Star Is Born hit “Shallow” at the 2019 Oscars.

The pair’s intimate, acoustic performance was shot with interesting cinematic angles that gave it a more theatric feel. They both looked like superstars, with Gaga wearing a stunning black dress and neutral makeup, while Bradley wore a classic black and white tux. Sure they looked gorgeous, but their voices were easily the most beautiful part of the performance.

While this is the first time the duo has appeared on stage at an awards show together to sing, it’s actually not the first time they performed the song live as a duet. During a January date of 32-year-old Gaga’s Enigma residency in Las Vegas, Bradley, 44, stopped by to support her. Of course, she couldn’t just give him a quick shout-out and move on … she invited him on stage!

“So I’m gonna be a little chance-y … Yo Bradley, you wanna come up and do this one?” she asked while the crowd roared their approval. Bradley quickly obliged, running up to his co-star and giving her a big hug before the pair totally crushed their duet. They definitely seemed better prepared at the Academy Awards, but there’s just nothin’ like the first time!

Still, it was probably good that Bradley got to try out a live performance before the Oscars, because he seemed a little nervous about it back in November 2018. At that point, he didn’t even know whether or not the song would be nominated (though pretty much everyone assumed so) but the wheels already started turning. “We talked about that actually, because I’m such a maniac,” he told Variety at the time. “I started texting her the whole pitch of how we should do it. So we’ll see. There might be a cool, unorthodox way we could perform it.” Clearly, it went off without a hitch!
