Despite having all of the odds against him, a Nepalese baby named Sonies survived the devastating Nepal earthquake after being buried alive under rubble for an unbelievable 22 hours!
When the catastrophe occurred, the five-month-old's mother, Rasmila Awal, was out shopping and his father was at work. By the time they got back to the house, it was too late as their home had been completely destroyed and was essentially a pile of rubble.
"I started screaming and asking neighbors for help," she said in an interview, according to 'CNN.'

They were able to locate and rescue their 10-year-old daughter, Soniya, after a two-hour search, however, the chances of finding the youngest member of the family seemed slim.
"I had very little hope that they had survived," she said. "I didn't hear any sound at all."
In a miraculous turn of events, the father, Sham Krishna Awal, heard his sweet baby crying from underneath the destruction, but unfortunately the search efforts had already ended after sundown.
After a grueling overnight wait, the search teams returned the next morning and were able to locate and rescue the child, reuniting him with his family.

At the hospital, doctors said Sonies had some bruising, but would be just fine.
Although the family lost everything and they now have to restart their lives from scratch, they are counting their blessings for having all of their loved ones survive the horrific event.
The earthquake, which occurred on April 25, has claimed the lives of more than 6,300 people.
