Every time we watch The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, we hope that the contestants fall in love and live happily ever after. Unfortunately, many of the couples break up and it makes us ~very~ emotional. Former Bachelorette star Ali Fedotowsky sat down with Life & Style to explain why it’s not easy to find The One on the hit ABC show.

“The pressure of the show is hard,” the blonde beauty, 34, told Life & Style while promoting the dog food Kibbles ‘n Bits. “You’re set up for failure. You really are. The people that make it are lucky.”

She added, “If I put you in a room with 25 guys or girls, and said, ‘You’re going to marry one of these people.’ What are the chances of that? Not good, right? I always say, the Bachelor or the Bachelorette should have a say in the 25 contestants.”

So, what exactly was Ali looking for when she was on the show? “I told the producers I was looking for somebody quirky, witty and smart. I described a guy that likes computers and wears Converse, very generic, but there was one guy like that on my season. Maybe a handful out of the 25 [guys or girls] are picked for you, the others are picked for TV.”

However, even though the Ali Luvs blogger didn’t end up marrying her then-fiancé at the time, Roberto Martinez, she still believes that the show can work. “I love the show. I am always going to watch it and I think everybody should watch it. It’s the best,” she revealed. She also admitted that even though the producers might not pick the right people, at the end of the day, they cast for ~drama~ because that is what makes the show appealing, right?

Luckily, it all worked out for the Massachusetts native, as she is happily married to her husband, Kevin Manno, 35, and they share two kids, Molly, 2, and Riley, 8 months. “We are just a really solid couple, honestly,” she spilled. “He’s my best friend and we tell each other absolutely everything. He is awesome. I married the best person I know.”

The reality starlet is also grateful that everyone gets along with each other, including the kids and their dog, Owen. “From the second Molly came in the door, Owen never left her side,” she said. “Now, Molly kind of pulls his tail sometimes, and maybe annoys him a bit, but Riley, the baby, Owen is so protective of him.”

Aw, it sounds like post-Bachelor life is treating Ali well. We’re so happy for you, girl!
