YouTuber Liza Koshy Steps Out at the 2019 Met Gala in a Dreamy, Custom Balmain Dress — See Pics!
Get it, girl! Liza Koshy stepped out onto the 2019 Met Gala red carpet looking like a vision in pink. The popular YouTuber, 23, rocked a dreamy dress that was custom-made for her by world-famous fashion house Balmain.
Unsurprisingly, fans are absolutely dying over Liza’s couture look. “Ummm, she did that!” one user commented on Twitter. “She is serving looks on that red carpet, y’all!” added another.
A couple of people, on the other hand, likened Liza’s ensemble to a “bed comforter” or “pink Triscuit.” Thankfully, they were quickly reminded of the event’s theme. “It’s supposed to be over-the-top! It’s Camp, OK?” someone wrote.
Camp, indeed! Liza’s dress is 100 percent appropriate for the occasion. “The essence of Camp is its love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration,” well-known writer Susan Sontag described in her 1964 essay titled “Notes on ‘Camp.’”
Beyond that, we certainly can’t ignore Liza’s style glow-up. After all, her 2018 Met Gala dress didn’t exactly hit the mark. To be fair, it was her first time attending, so we’ll give her a pass!
Even so, her Alessandra Rich dress and rhinestone accessories, while beautiful, didn’t look quite as curated as her styling this time around. Plus, Liza’s glam is so much more on point. Her hair is elegant and sleek with just the right amount of edge and that eyeshadow? Forget about it! It totally ties everything together.
Considering it takes fashion heavy-hitters like Kim Kardashian years to nail their Met Gala outfits, we think that Liza getting it right on her second try is an accomplishment worth mentioning. From here on out, we will definitely be looking forward to what she’s wearing at the famed event and other red carpets, for that matter. Welcome to the world of being a style icon, Liza!
