Note to self: Never settle for anyone less than Joe Jonas. Thanks to Sophie Turner’s raw interview with the Sunday Times, published on May 19, it’s clear that the Game of Thrones powerhouse and her newly minted husband are meant to be. So much so, that Sophie, 23, believes Joe, 29, once saved her life.

While the actress has been incredibly open about her battle with depression in the past, she got even more candid about how the “Sucker” singer helped her see the light when they first met in 2016. “He was, like, ‘I can’t be with you until you love yourself, I can’t see you love me more than you love yourself,'” Sophie confessed. “That was something, him doing that. I think he kind of saved my life, in a way.”

Of course, being the humble gentleman that Joe is, he hardly takes credit for his wife’s success in coping with her mental illness. In fact, he makes it a point to champion her efforts about bringing awareness on the subject every chance he gets.

“I think the best thing about it is she can encourage other young people out there who are going through similar stuff and be a voice that they can listen to … I am proud of her,” Joe gushed to reporters ahead of the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.

Proud, indeed! It’s amazing to see Sophie use her platform for the greater good and thankfully, through therapy, treatment and her relationship with Joe, her mental health has vastly improved.  “I love myself now, or more than I used to, I think. I don’t think I love myself at all, but I’m now with someone that makes me realize, you know, that I do have some redeeming qualities, I suppose,” she expressed during a podcast appearance in April.

Thank you for being brave, Sophie! You’re inspiration to people all over the world.
