It sounds like congratulations are in order for TLC star Jazz Jennings! The 18-year-old, whose transgender journey has been featured on I Am Jazz since 2015, recently had her gender confirmation surgery in June, and she gave fans an update during her healing process on Oct. 16.

“I’m sure a lot of you have been wondering about how my recovery process has been going,” said Jazz, looking radiant in the outdoor selfie video. “I’m here to tell you that I’m doing great.” However, as with any major surgery, it wasn’t always easy. “There were some setbacks and complications, but I was able to get through it and now I’m doing wonderful and I’m just so happy to finally be in the body that I’ve always wanted.”

Jazz has been incredibly open with fans since they met her when she was just fifteen years old, and anyone who has been following her journey can see it on her face: she’s happier than ever! “The reason why I wanted to get this surgery was because from as soon as I could express myself, I always knew I was a girl. Getting this surgery was the step I knew I wanted to take so that I could have mind and body alignment.”

Jazz says she now feels like her external appearance fully matches how she feels on the inside, and she wants others to have that same sense of freedom and fulfillment. “I’m hoping that sharing my story can inspire others to make changes physically and emotionally to better themselves and help them down the path of being their authentic selves.” She also thanked her friends, family, and fans for their support, and revealed that all of the ups and downs of recovery will be followed on I Am Jazz, Season 5, which will air on TLC in 2019. We can’t wait to tune in!
