Jennifer Lopez Reflects on Pole Dancing for ‘Hustlers’ Being the ‘Hardest’ Thing ‘Physically’ in Racy Video
It may have been a challenge for Jennifer Lopez to bring her character in Hustlers to life, but she managed! The 50-year-old, who plays a stripper in the forthcoming movie, revealed that working the pole is no joke.
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone,” she captioned an Instagram teaser of her YouTube video. “This was definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done physically. But it was all worth it in the end. 🍸 Link in my bio to see BTS of how I prepared for #Ramona. 💰❤️✨ #Hustlers in theaters next week!!!!”
In the full YouTube video, which is titled “How I mastered the Pole Dance,” J. Lo documents her progress from when she first started learning exotic dancing, and it’s further proof that there isn’t anything she can’t do. After achieving a milestone, she called her fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, to share the exciting news. “Baby, I was upside down on the pole today,” she proudly told him on FaceTime. “[It’s] very difficult lifting yourself up, but we did it! We did one,” she added before correcting herself. “We did four.”
Once their convo was over, the actress admitted that she had to become a pro pretty quickly. “It’s rough on your body. It’s real acrobatics but I’m just trying to learn the mechanics right now because strippers have lots of time to practice. You know, they’re there every night. You know, if they work the club every night, so they start learning little by little. But we have to do a crash course.”
She continued, “like Cardi [B] was telling me it took her years. Like she’s great at it, but it took her years to kind of figure out all of this stuff, and Joanna is trying to teach me in a matter of like six weeks. I’m not trying to look like I could be in Cirque de Soleil and be like a, you know, top acrobatic in the world, I’m just trying to look convincing as I’ve been stripping for a while.”
She did that!
