‘Sacrifice’ Star Jordyn Woods Dishes on Her New Acting Career: ‘It Kind of Came Naturally to Me’
Lights, camera, action! Jordyn Woods is set to make her acting debut in Footage Films’ new thriller, Sacrifice, premiering on streaming service BET+ on December 19. In an exclusive interview with Life & Style, the 22-year-old opened up about her new acting career, what it’s like to star in her first feature film — and even revealed which actor she’d love to work with next.
“I actually believe in trying everything and it was something that just kind of happened organically and I tried it out and I ended up loving it so it’s just part of my story, my career path,” she dished exclusively. The upcoming film follows an entertainment lawyer who gets tangled in the lives of her elite clients, including Jordyn’s character, a megastar grappling with domestic violence.
Believe it or not, the 22-year-old went through the same process as most actors to snag the part — and she’s already onto the next one. “I auditioned and they liked me and I flew to New Orleans and I filmed. I had no lessons, no anything, I just kind of went for it and it paid off,” she revealed. “It kind of came naturally to me and now I actually just finished filming my second movie like a couple weeks ago.”
Though the film has yet to premiere, she’s already impressing casting directors … and landing more leads. “That is called Triggered. It probably won’t be out until [next year],” she gushed. “I actually have the leading role for that one, so it’s cool.”
It’s no surprise the brunette beauty is making moves, since she’s still feeling the love from shooting Sacrifice. “I just feel like everyone became family and I love getting to stay in New Orleans because the culture there is awesome,” she said. “And I got to see so much that I wouldn’t have seen just without being there for the movie.”
While Jordyn is still pretty new to the acting scene, she already has a long list of actors and directors she hopes to work with in the future. “Oh, good question. There’s so many good ones! There’s so many people that I would love to work with,” she raved. “I really like Angela Bassett, Lupita [Nyong’o]. I really like Jordan Peele, the director. I would love to be in one of his movies! I love Quentin Tarantino. I’m like everywhere — I love everything and so many different styles!”
Considering how excited Jordyn is for her upcoming leading role, it makes sense that one of her main goals for the coming year is to continue to pursue the craft. “Yeah, I mean there’s a lot of different things that I focus on,” she revealed. “There’s a lot more stuff coming in 2020 but I think acting is definitely on top of my priority list.”
