We were under the impression that Ronnie Ortiz-Magro‘s baby mama drama with Jen Harley couldn’t get any worse… and then tonight’s episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation aired. Let’s go ahead and tackle this toxic beast head-on, shall we?

For starters, it’s clear that all of Ronnie’s roomies in Las Vegas — Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Pauly “Pauly D” DelVecchio, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Vinny Guadagnino, and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi — were looking out for his best interest, but beyond that, they truly have matured into impressive adults. Back in the day, it was unlikely that any of them would have had the wherewithal to advise Ronnie to seek joint custody of his daughter, Ariana Sky, but now? They’re basically his legal counsel.

“What gets people into trouble is not taking other people’s advice and suggestions and thinking that they know everything. We are your friends, we love you, and we’re trying to help you,” was perhaps the most poignant quote of the episode delivered by The Situation. Of course, Ronnie tried to laugh off it but thankfully, he really started to listen.

Then Pauly chimed in with some serious fatherly wisdom and for the first time in what felt like hours, Ronnie begrudgingly opened up to the idea of seeking an actual lawyer to handle his custody battle with Jen. “Do you want to be with [Jen]? Yes or no? Because you’re gonna have to fight for your baby. I’m saying in court. It’s going to have to come down to that or else you’re going to be doing it for the rest of life.”

Following Ron’s deeply emotional confrontation with the roommates, the rest of the episode was full of a lot of he said/she said. However, it became glaringly more apparent that Jen Harley, at the time, was a toxic influence in Ronnie’s life. Her reflex to use their daughter as a pawn was not OK and we’re happy that the father-of-one did make his way to an attorney. MTV neglected to show the actual exchange, but Ronnie did seem less distraught.

Of course, until Jen showed up to the hotel. Not only did she spit on her baby daddy, but she also attempted to hit him a number of times. Yikes. Sadly, that wasn’t the first time the pair had been involved in domestic violence. However, it seems that they’re in a better place nowadays. Hopefully, both Ron and Jen will continue to grow from watching their drama unfold on national television.

Be sure to catch the second season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation Thursday nights at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
