The FBI confirmed on Thursday that they are investigating child abuse claims made against Brad Pitt last week following an incident with one of his children on the family's private plane.
“In response to your inquiry regarding allegations within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States; specifically, an aircraft carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI is continuing to gather facts and will evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued," a statement made to Us Weekly reads.

Although previous reports stated that the LAPD were handling the case, the FBI has jurisdiction given that the alleged abuse happened in the air during a flight from Nice, France, to California.
Several news outlets have since reported that Brangelina's oldest son Maddox, 15, was the one involved in the incident.
According to TMZ, Maddox verbally defended Angelina after the couple got into an argument, causing Brad to lunge at the teen.

A source close to the 52-year-old actor said he vehemently denies any wrongdoing. "He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children. It's unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light," the source shared.
